It's never about safety. Speed Camera only exist because the government make money off them. If it wasn't profitable they wouldn't be there.

Because 70% of people on the road can't follow basic traffic laws here. I go the speed limit (usually because I'm high) and people get pissed at me kek.

Once something gets handed off to a collection agency, you can no longer dispute the debt. So these third party servicers of these illegal cameras do this as quickly as possible. It doesnt come from the DMV (or RMV for you east coast faggots).

Doesn't help that in areas with red light cameras, they were shortening the duration of the yellow light, which is supposed to be based on speed and time to clear the intersection. They did so to increase ticket revenue by catching more people on red as the light turned while the cars were still in the intersection. Doing this made intersections more dangerous, and in fact accidents increased as people began jamming the brakes on yellow to avoid the ticket. But it's all about safety!
