The fights in space are very fast and cannot be controlled by humans due to the time lag, they would mostly be autonomous satellites fighting each other. Imagine a fleet of autonomous satellites of China and USA on orbits and they evaluate actions of each other trying to see if there is a threat to them, calculating if they should fire first, or wait for enemy to fire. Its a nightmare, because humans would have no control over this development. The war in space could start because Satellite 24124 decided that the enemy satellite r1221 approached it with hostile intent, while in reality it was drifting due to the malfunction. So satellites start firing on each other without control and humans on Earth just trying to figure out who fired first and why. So that war can start in Space and then it will continue on Earth. Just because dumb drones in space started shooting each other. Is that the future you want?

This whole concept is dumb, because you completelly lose control over the battlefield and all decisions have to be delegated to dumb AI
and if war breaks, after all calms down our space is going to look like a jankyard with debrees, ammo, bombs, warheads, nuclear waste spilled all over orbits for thousands years to threaten any space activity. When you fire a bullet in orbit of Earth, it doesn't leave Earth orbit, it just endlesslly fucking orbits planet untill it can hit something maybe 1000 years after the war ends. And if you detonate a bomb with 1000 shrapnel. All of that shrapnel will forever poison space, flying in orbit.

Orbits are not eternal, anything lower than GEO will inevitably decay and burn up
The timeframes do get exponentially worse as you go higher, nearly all shit gets put in LEO, and anything there will decay without stationkeeping in either weeks, for very low low-earth-orbit, or a few years for high low-earth orbit
If LEO gets FUBAR, it'll only be so for a decade even if no cleanup efforts are attempted
