That is a horrible movie. My kids wanted to watch it because they love the book (the book has some semitic persecution undertones, but I can let that slide).
The movie is nothing like the book. I wanted to turn it off immediate, but I tolerated it until the fox goes to get a loan to buy a nicer house. He says: "I'm six years old, I don't want to spend my remaining years living in a hole". I thought that's it. This is teaching my kids to mortgage their future (and future generations) for a little temporary material comfort.
