If they fire you and you file a wrongful dismissal against them you qualify for EI as it’s being worked through the courts. The cheapest route is to file with a human rights tribunal (its free) and they’re clogged up for months. Yes they’re faggots and will deny it but it’ll give you breathing room. Research it a bit more I remember seeing this a year ago though.
