I’ve posted about this before so I don’t feel like writing out the whole essay again, but pretty much every comment section, every thread, forum, everything on the internet is fake. It is all bots. Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, and pretty much all other social media sites publish their APIs which means that literally anyone can make bots. I’ve made hundreds of bots between Reddit and Twitter, and with the availability of cloud services like AWS Rekognition, you can have enterprise-grade AI for pennies. I created a bot swarm that upvotes and comments on all Reddit posts that contain a certain marvel hero, which I trained my AI to recognize. That means that 40 of all the upvotes you see on a marvel post on Reddit are bots, run by me. Thousands and thousands are run by Disney, and absolutely have more sophisticated AIs to maintain a camouflaged level of engagement. There are bots here on Any Forums too, obviously. I’d estimate that 40-60% of ALL comments on any post in the internet is made by a bot. Disney, Amazon, Democrats, Republicans, UN, EU, NATO, WEF, World Bank, WHO, Pharma companies, all these people have the resources and the talent to build bot swarms to shape narrative. If I managed to do it by myself with little experience, senior devs at Disney certainly can. Pair this with ML-generated facial portraits like this-person-does-not-exist.com (which hilariously has their own API!), and you can create infinite accounts with infinite engagement. Twitter is the worst, IMO, and I’d estimate 70% of all content on there, at minimum, is bot traffic. Disney obviously bots Reddit and Instagram and Twitter to signal boost Marvel and Star Wars content, which is in their financial interest. Pharma companies bot the same in order to create a false consensus, and orgs & platforms can collude with each other to bypass things like rate limiting, email verification, automatic spam detection, etc.
No one you see on these comments is real.
