>very chill year >recession was waning >not much global crises happening in this time >normal, level-headed leaders in charge in most western countries >war on terror was basically over >internet was still uncensored >SJWs only existed on tumblr and no one took them seriously >most people didn't even know what trannies were >commies and nazis alike were both still seen as fringe, ridiculous ideologies >cancel culture wasn't a thing >BLM wasn't a thing >people were generally still optimistic about the world
The best way I can describe 2013 and the surrounding years is like a kind of "chill liberalism". We had moved on from the stuffy conservatism of previous eras, but we hadn't yet been consumed by the beast of wokeism and cancel culture. It was a true small-l liberal era, in which people were relaxed, people didn't take themselves too seriously, and people had respect for freedom of speech.
What I can't understand is why people attack me for saying we should go back to 2013's values. I have people act like I'm some kind of "far-right bigot" literally just for saying things were better in 2013. Why are people like this? What exactly was so bad about 2013? Do people really think a year in which a black man was the #1 most powerful leader in the world was somehow some "horrible, bigoted, far-right time"?
The year of the dorner manhunt and the zimmerman trial. Probably the best times I’ve had here.
Angel Powell
Not even a liberal. I literally just want to live in a normal, unpoliticised world. You know, like we did before 2016.
Parker Taylor
So then you WERE 12 in 2013. Check mate.
Cooper Nelson
Why go back to a few years before things accelerated downhill? If you're 25 I'd think you would want late-90s at the latest. Going back to 2013 puts you right in the middle of the bullshit we're currently in...
Ryder Harris
You're 100% a lib. I'm actually thankful for troons and progs ruining your king nigger utopia.
Cameron fucking ruined this country and had a massive boner for putting British troops on the ground in Syria to fight assad. 2013 was when ISIS appeared and started beheading people all the time. Economy was shit and nick clegg lied about the student loans. Fuck 2013, the only thing good about those days was that tinder would actually get you laid for free every weekend
Gavin Sullivan
everything after the 1200s is evil.
Christopher Hill
Blockbuster and Wrath of the Lich King. Ahh, those were the days. I'm hopeful to at least revive my MMO craze next week with the release of Lost Ark.
>Why go back to a few years before things accelerated downhill? If you're 25 I'd think you would want late-90s at the latest. Because I wasn't alive in the 90s. I have no experience of what it was actually like.
Personally I felt like the period roughly 2010-2015 was like a mini revival of some of the vibes stereotypically associated with the 90s. It was a very de-politicised, relaxed time in which not many major global crises happened and people were very optimistic about the future.
Not a liberal, nope.
And I'm not even American so I don't give a shit about Obama beyond the fact that he was a better "leader of the free world" than both of the retards that followed him.
Blake Mitchell
2013 was fucking gay kys zoomie
Sebastian Perry
What are you even on about? This clown show is beautiful. Accelerate.
Nathaniel Kelly
>Obama beyond the fact that he was a better "leader of the free world" than both of the retards that followed him Absolute mouth breather retard take, again kys
Chase Edwards
King nigger was worse than Biden and Trump simply for being a fucking negro.
Henry Ramirez
2013 was pretty chill, but we knew it was fake and gay back then too. People wanted the world to end in 2012. If only we knew just how good we had it.
Never mind the fact Obama was instrumental in helping all the cancer faggots and ideas infesting our country. Fuck me bongs are stupid.
Nathaniel Ross
I actually want to live in a normal world where it's possible to have hope and optimism and happiness about the future. Why is that too much to ask for? We had it before, like I said, in the early 2010s.
You're making the argument about things it's not meant to be. I'm not even talking about Obama specifically or any of his policies. I'm talking about the general era and the feeling of it. Fact of the matter is that when Obama was in office there wasn't this non-stop gay as fuck culture war going on, and things generally speaking were calm.
I want political leaders to be as bland and inoffensive as possible, ideally speaking. I don't want to live in "interesting times". I want calm.
Bentley Allen
The printing press was the start of the great unfixable problems of technology, but the internet really sealed the deal. So, no. While 2013 is definitely better than no, only an idiot zoomer would say that's the time to aim for.
Matthew Diaz
>BLM wasn't a thing "The movement began in July 2013, with the use of the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter on social media after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of African-American teen Trayvon Martin 17 months earlier in February 2012."
Brandon Peterson
>Because I wasn't alive in the 90s. I have no experience of what it was actually like. It was sublime. I miss it everyday.
