The germans used about of third of their forces under von bock ro deceive them into thinking their main army was in the north (which was what the french expected). This army fought so well and intensely it looked like a larger force. Manstein then came in through the Ardennes. Despite popular memes, they French did defend the Ardennes and had armies ready to go reinforce the sector. They figured they had time since it would take a fe days for the germans to pull up their artillery through the woods and terrain, but Manstein's armies attacked without artillery and instead the Luftwaffe launched the biggest bombardment of a single target in all of the war at the city of Sedan.

Then you know what happened after the germans take Sedan. Their best armies got encircled and fucked up in the north and their armoured divisions are lost counter attacking an entrenched Sedan.

They did nothing "wrong" in the sense they made reasonable decisions with what information they had at the time. It just happened Mannstein showed his quality here.

Also in terms of % of core territory lost, they fought as long as the germans, so don't believe the surrender monkey meme.

Maybe history is reverse as you being taught. It's not that French were weak, why they surrendered. It's not that matters if Hitler hated them. They wanted Hitler instead of Anglo. WW1 and WW2 was really Germany vs. British Empire, so was American civil war. But it gets thicker, both had Jewish banking. Only Soviets really banned banking and loans.
