Ukraine is as corrupt and oligarchic as Russia is. They just don’t have a Putin and their economy is several times more dogshit. The EU doesn’t want Ukraine, it had trouble integrating Bulgaria. The US has made it clear that it won’t do anything more than economic sanctions. Putin is playing a clumsy game, but in there end, no one cares all that much about Ukraine except the Russians.
