im just not going to buy any of those games. the consumer normies will happily eat up the pig slop but will that be enough to save gaming?

Most people can't even begin to understand the world they're building let alone how awful their existence in it will be.

Er just don't play video games nerd

none of this needed blockchains to work

This wont work, pay to play fails so hard already, people arent just going to double down on there most hated aspect of the gaming industry. All it takes is one company, probably nintendo, not doing this and bam they win out in the markets. Any company that thinks they can maximize profits over a long term by being shady is fucking retarded

If games aren't fun, people won't by them. Sure, there are a lot of sad people who probably explain get sucked into these enough to make them profitable; but, destroy the industry (more than current trajectories that is)? Probably not.

Meh, I just downloaded a ton of ps1 and ps2 games on my old ps that I never got to play, plus my physical copy backlog stretches back to the SNES. In bored with most recent games anyway, there's enough old games never got to play to last lifetime.

Except he's wrong. Games back then costed $60 dollars brand new. They still cost $60 dollars brand new and in some cases don't even cost that much. WTF is this schizo even talking about.

This is fucking dumb. The only reason everyone is trying to get on the NFT bandwagon is because they can literally sell nothing for money.

For some reason people think that NFTs mean that you own the image, but it's far more stupid than that. Buying an NFT is just buying a digital spot in some company's registry. The image is just a unique placeholder for that spot to make it seem like you actually bought something. It's like those companies that let you name a star after yourself. You don't own that star. You're not even actually officially naming that star after yourself. You're buying a spot in some companies database that says that you're name just happens to be associated with that dot in the sky. Other companies get in on the action.

But this is all NFTs are. You are buying a nice little parkingspot on someone's harddrive that has a picture associated with it. You don't own the picture, it just represents your unique spot which is verified by the blockchain. Of course corporations want to get in on the "craze".

what is he on about, in game markets exist already and they are extremely lucrative to the game companies.
putting this shit on the blockchain makes no sense at all.

In this moment, you have the ability to choose.
Choose life.
>What is the question?

I stopped that item trading bullshit in D2 and MMOs, anyone enslaved to that kind of consumerism and pay 2 win deserves what they get. It'll just be another form of gacha D3 casinos and pay2win that gamers ignore and the companies will take a bath on it once again.

The burnouts still pulling the slot machine arm will be just like the senior citizens in Florida doing it until they shut down the "arcade" like they did there.

The suits try this every few years with different methods because AAA gaming companies are fucking greedy and players increasingly want nothing to do with AAA, flocking to the smaller devs that just do traditional content.

Here is a list of the history of video games interacting with cash grabs:
>Coin op arcades were shut down by the availability and tech of home consoles
>D3 casino action/auction failed and was changed
>D4 mobile was ridiculed off the face of the earth
>Paid mod subscriptions was rebelled against on several mod sites and never took off
>WoW with cash mounts and forever grinds and gold selling is a dead game now
>Gacha is a ghetto subset for coomers and pedos
>Second life is a ghetto subset for coomers and pedos
>Konami fucked off to pachinko forever and no one cares about their franchises anymore
>Hardly anyone can justify the price of an MMO subscription to themselves anymore

The games turning to NFTs are paytowin, lootbox gambling, gacha, etc. games that already only exist to exploit gambling addictions and the human obsession with numbers getting bigger.
Good games will remain unharmed, just like they did with other cancerous trends. AA gaming is better than ever.

This is why they are bringing in immigrants. Every sector of the entertainment industry has been stooping to the 'lowest common denominator' for years to maximize profits. You can produce literal crap and minorities will eat it up because they are stupid consumers.

They want Helter Skelter so the non-whites can win and allow for their jewish corporate overlords to enslave them.

I hope they do i would finally stop playing their garbage

>They still cost $60 dollars brand new and in some cases don't even cost that much.
AAA games haven't been $60 here in over a decade, I think they're $90 rn. Hard to believe there hasn't been a bump of at least $10-20 in the states?

just buy the stocks / crypto that will be behind it (Gamestop / LRC/ metaverse shit like SAND and MANA)

Unironically this.

Corporations have already pushed for maximum cash grab in games. The average f*ggot who plays Fortnite has paid over $300 for it through BS items. They're doing very well.

Even MMORPGs have evolved to include chapters in their evolving storyline. The profits come in the form of subscription or in-game items/boosts/rewards/cosmetics.

When companies push for egregious cash grabs there is a substantial push back. I cannot see gamers spending any more in NFTs than they do currently via PayPal when buying a rare weapon from another player online.

So, the potential for companies to profit via NFT is actually minimal. Gamers hate the pay-to-win concept and believe me, any game that offers that is unappealing to real PvPers.

The only way companies will profit from NFTs will be if they make item trade in game with a verifiable monetary transaction in which a percentage goes to the company itself, but that means having the item in a blockchain already.

Why the fuck would you put something on a blockchain for pennies in profit when it costs so much to place it on a blockchain?

Here's what I do when a bullshit game is bullshit: I don't play it.

I'm enjoying early 2010 games in all this DLC, mods, patches, etc, right now. My computer can run them at super max settings, zero problems. Did I have to wait a decade for it? No. I just didn't give a shit.

I don't give a flying shit. $60 is expensive. Wait a decade. Same game, all bells and whistles, patches, etc: $6.99

That's a deal for me.

Here's an ez fix. Don't play mmos they are gay

No, regular versions of new games are $60 still. Of course the deluxe and special editions are $10-20 more but that's with the kitchsy extras or season pass shit. I think they were discussing bring the cost of PS5/Xbox games up to $70 but I don't know if they did or not.

Time for Neo-Luddites to rise up & enforce evolutionary standards of life for hominids.

The System is going to destroy the hominid world. We'll never make it to Type 1 civ with this disease of greed so prevalent.

As bad as you let it

>any game that offers that is unappealing to real PvPers
>Have you played against United condomians, GOYmany players in the past decade and a half ?
>IF there is a black market, THEY WILL USE IT.
>Depressed because bullied in school by shitskins, can't do shit, cos be deemed raycis.
>Kid either grows up, gets a shitty job or outright steals daddy's CC and starts to buy POWER
>They not only buy items, but also buy whatever cheat is available for a given game
>They feel "powerful" cos they won, against pixels, not in real life, where it matters.

damn, guess it's just us getting screwed then. They climbed to $70 ages ago, then $80, then $90 a few years ago.

OP has a well worded but otherwise cold take. Items you own in game currently are just a line in a corporate database. The introduction of blockchain into gaming means that items you acquire in game are literally yours. There is no way anyone can take it without hacking you in some way, not even the game dev. So when you inevitably get banned for being racist in general chat, you will at least be able to sell off your in game assets to another player. It’s dumb to compare digital items you spend real money for that you don’t even own, with items you spend money for that your ownership of is absolute. This is just more crypto fud.

Exactly this, I reached 6 figures in usd (a shitton for me) just by placing 1k usd in a project called Pavia last year.
Feelsgoodman.

This, I haven’t played Robotron in years and I can’t even remember the last time I played nethack.

just re-install morrowind

wait nvm they're still $80 I guess. still fucked.

> not my heckin le gamerinos??!?
i sometimes forget that this is a place for literal children

This, just don't buy modern video games and don't fucken buy games at full price.
If companies wanna put out shitty half finished trash, then don't buy it new

Not that bad. I've been playing gods unchained and I've made over 10 grand profit in cash since the game came out. I still have tons of cards that I bought for 40-60 bucks that are now worth over 200+. One card in particular went on to be worth 1800 dollars. Wish I would have sank more in. Not to mention their crypto itself skyrocketed.

it isn't a solution, but everyone should stop buying any game that isn't made by japs

Shut the fuck up you retarded gullible faggot. How can you even post that with a straight fast? Yeah, ubisoft is going to give you control over your keys so you can sell the tranny suit 2000 skin for money after you get banned for calling someone gay. You don't even actually own a copy of half the games you buy anymore, yet you think you'll "actually own" assets within them. lol, lmao

>buying a spot in a database
It’s not even that, you own a fucking URL link. That company can shut the server off any time it wants, which some people selling Minecraft skins have already done. And then you are stuck with a URL that goes nowhere. I figured it was going to be some sort of stenography in a token, not a fucking URL link.

as someone who spent my early teens playing on gta sa rpg servers with my friends, i can confirm that this will probably happen.
thats why i almost completely left video games (or atleast online MMORPG and shit like that). when you play, you basically DONT DO ANYTHING REAL. you instead just waste time "working" for an imaginary concept like leveling up, virtual money on SOMEONES server, and he can just shut it down and then it ceases to exist

INSCRYPTION

has more popularity than Battleshit 2042
on CoD 5000

That tells you pretty simple thing...
Gaming heals itself and rewards creativity.

Shit companies with shit products are going to bankrupt sooner or later... or get bought/ taken over....

Some companies like Activision Blizzard are going to gain notoriety and become avoided by generally most of their target audience..

etc etc

Yeah, it's the system that's more important. In fact, incorporating the blickchain is just going to wreck their game.
>trade initiated
>queue number: 6000000
>estimated wait time: 4 years

>straight fast
I meant face

Thought everything was 10-20% more expensive up there, just the extra costs associated with higher taxes you guys have.

Play indie games then

You really don’t understand how the blockchain works. If an NFT resides in my wallet, it’s completely mine. It can’t be moved or taken away without my express cryptographic approval. It doesn’t matter if it’s gay or whatever, not sure what that has to do with the argument.

>t. Made 6 figs selling game nfts

Stop paying for new shit.

I still play Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge to this day and the community is growing with zoomers and others who didn't originally play C&C during its Westwood hayday. You can buy the whole collection for like $20 flat and play online through cncnet.

crypto enthusiast , stopped reading right there.

They plan for eventual full spectrum control grid blockchain interactions with cybernetics for complete enslavement of biological processes via levering human brain chemistry against 'social' carbon credit scores using devices like neuralink (or just straight up lab grown biochips/gene therapies) in concordance with a climate index of their choosing. This index will control your levels of dopamine, melatonin, serotonin etc directly at the source depending on your biometrics and carbon credit score.

Just don't play those games. Weak willed cucks.

I haven't paid for a video game in years. I either pirate, or watch a streamer play it(with adblock on), or not play it at all.
