The worthless electric car has been subsidized from start. They use rare minerals from countries with child labour. They lack range. A new battery pack is as much as the car is used. The infrastructure for handling the new demand is not in place. They chew wheels like it's no tomorrow. There is no charm in driving them. And worst of all - smug assholes out themselves in high horses.

I'll give it a go. It's really insane how they managed to push a worthless and environmentally bad product using politics. It shows the market rules are not at play at all, it's all crony capitalism.

I own an electric vehicle and the only thing I am smug about is that I'm milking the system. I get a tax subsidy to buy the car, tax subsidy to power the car, and sometimes free parking and energy.

Patently false. Ne batteries are in the $13K range and from battery degradation data currently on hand cars are over 200K miles with over 90% battery capacity still in tact.

This is what bothers me. I have a combustion engine car and I love it. We use the cars for different purposes, but these faggots in the auto industry all of a sudden are all shifting 100% for electric? Guess I'll have to buy a Subaru or Toyota in 10 years when my current ICE car breaks down.

I want a car with no computers in it. My lawn mower doesn't have any and I can operate that just fine.

There is a good reason you don't see Teslas at the track at a regular basis. And that's because it doesn't work for more than a few laps before range anxiety makes that bloated vegan tummy hurt.

Patently false yet again. Jesus you petrol shills are out in force today. I currently get 3-4X the economy in my Bolt than an equivalent 30mpg gas car. Either gas would have to be ~$.70/gallon or there would have to be a gas car that could get 90-120 mpg in order for the economy to trade.

On speed I can beat most ICE cars off the line in a shitty economy class EV. There is no comparison.

This! I'm a mechanical engineer and electric cars are sturdy as fuck, almost no maintenance needed because there are almost nothing to break.

That said, I think the push for EV with current batteries is completely stupid. They will only be feasible once we figure out something better than lithium.

I got one. I drive for almost free through the city to the market and when going on trips it's just a normal car.

Chek out some of the chink cars coming to westeren markets like BYD dolphin, they are saying u will get 350km for 15k$.

Completely agree. If they can get Sodium Ion working in the same capacity as Lithium Ion then electric cars will be a no brainer when it comes to cost. Another thing that really, REALLY needs to be addressed, at least in America, is our shitty electrical grid. If it's not upgraded soon mass adoption of electrical vehicles will never happen.

Why would you voluntarily keep getting bent over by Saudi Arabia and Russia with high gas prices, have to go to dirty petrol stations, when you can charge your electric car overnight fully for $5, in the comfort of your own garage? Petrol cars are outdated technology.

The batteries are crap, yes, but you have to take breaks and wheels into consideration when talking about extreme vehicle weights.

Latest I heard from an owner is that he has to change tires twice a year and service the breaks every year pre inspection due to them getting seized up. Appearantly they don't use the breaks nearly enough.
