Happy Lunar New Year, Any Forums!

What's that, you always called it Chinese New Year? Don't be so insensitive, every corporation is now telling us that it has a new name, so stop being a bigot!

Every. Single. Brand. All at the same time.

Dude I literally just saw this and came here to make the exact same thread about this then saw yours, I'm glad I'm not the only schizo noticing this kek

>Did you notice globo homo just renamed Chinese new year to lunar new year and everyone's acting like yeah bro I always knew it was lunar new year literally every single outlet got the memo apparently, totally organic and not glowing in the slightest
I can't even tell if this is typical everything has to be neutral non de script political correctness gone mad or an attempt to minimize chink influence because the sjw trannies were already trying to censor pejorative terms like Chinese flu but considering how this is blatantly an Alphabet op I'm guessing it's the later this time

God they're so disgusting and obvious
Next they're gonna rename Russian roulette, you'll see, just completely overnight 3 big Hollywood movies coming out at the same time will just have characters just call it 'Risky Roulette'
>mfw Burgers will just rename French fries and French toast freedom toast and fries - you'll never have freedom wine and cheese tho

Thanks mate, I'd given up on the thread because nobody else seems to think it's weird, so I'm relieved to see that I'm not alone.

I just really want to know the process that has resulted in every private company deciding to change what they call it, at exactly the same time. I'm not immediately pointing the finger at some globohomo mass memo to marketing departments. I'm leaning more towards the idea of the marketing depts themselves subscribing to the sort of places that are the first to change language based on "progressive" trends.

I'm also not sure if this is related to the whole China thing, or if it's just low-level wokeness.

>God they're so disgusting and obvious
Who, though?

Before making the thread, I checked 4plebs to see if anyone else had posted about it, and this one burger lad did:

I hate Chinks. Give them all to a revived 731 and be done with it.

It takes a special kind of Chinese/Jewish retard to think the moon can even make a year. It's a mathematically stupid idea on all levels. Hurr durr party of science~

but isn't this actually the opposite, it's taking chink dominance away from the holiday that is celebrated in many smaller countries too like korea, mongolia and tibet, and as you can see many of them are harassed by chink faggots, so yeah take chinks out of the holiday they don't deserve to dominate the whole asian culture

Yeah they basically have years of different lengths, and start each year based on the date the moon is at a certain position.

Happy New Year.
In this country, we say Happy New Year.

I agree, and I have no issue with the adoption of the new term. It's just fucking weird how every corporate advert or social media posting has suddenly adopted the new name, as of now. Before now, I'd never heard of the term "Lunar New Year".

I also wonder why the decision was made this year. Why not last year or next year?

What's a Bugman New Year?

I studied asian cultures in school back in the 90s and this is the first time I have seen wide celebration of any asian holidays, so it's bizarre to start now, but I'm pretty pleased that at least they didn't use sino centric term for it, who knows maybe we see a celebration of the buddhist version of this in april

>has no problem with gaslighting a new wording for an established term
part of the problem
you know who likes to do this? commies

Surely it depends on the motivation. Looking at it objectively, I can see that Lunar New Year is a more accurately descriptive term. I would have an issue with the name being changed for political/social justice reasons, which is what I believe is happening here.

>LUNAR NEW YEAR
Notice that the Western world calendar uses a *Solar* Calendar?
Here, one can wonder if these Lunar and Solar differences affect social psychologies, personally do not know.

Just wanted to share that The Western Calendar is a *Solar* Calendar, and while it was updated a few centuries ago by Pope Gregory, the prominent Christian Holidays: Christmas and Easter, both coincidence with notable *Solar* Holidays that have been carried down throughout the ages within the Western World.

Also, take note of the, "Great Year" often referred to as: "The Platonic Year"; where once again there is a reference to Plato and the solar/light symbolism.

Oh! And another interesting item:
Of all the Asian nation-states, for some reason Japan and the USA became remarkable allies. Keep in mind here that prior to WWII Japan and USA had an arguably close relationship.

Note Japan's flag: "The Sun".
Japan is often referred to as, "The Land of the Rising Sun"
Very interesting.

Anyways, don't know what to make of all of the items above, just thought they were interesting and worth sharing in a thread discussing the Lunar New Year.

... You know, one can make a case here that in the Western World, folks can wish one another, "Happy Solar New Year" because that is arguably true considering their calendar designed according to a Solar model.

Luna New Year?
In Australia we just call it New Year. It’s the only new year celebration we have.

Happy Lunar New Year everyone!

My employer gave me a gift worth ~200 bucks for christmas, so I can't complain.
I guess it's some CCP guidelines that you have to make China look good when entering their market, so they did that by displaying traditions that have nothing to do with the commies.

Posting the same thread over and over again doesn't help though.
It's about quality, not quantity.

In general, the chinks are about a sixth of the world's population. For better or worse, they're a threat you can't really ignore.
Also they get really crazy when it comes to traditions and certain types of superstition. A few years back, it was year of the dog or rat or some shit, and the chinese name for that animal was equal to some number (I believe it was 7 or 9 or something).
In that year, the Beijing license plate with that number was auctioned off for several million in USD equivalent.
