The term you're looking for is peer validation. A lot of NPCs, libshits, etc., are addicted to positive feedback from their peers or "others". It's why social media has been so successful with its likes/dislikes type of systems.

People become addicted to the approval of others to the point they seek out that feedback, even at the expense of their own dignity and integrity (like licking toilet seats). This is a big part of the self-hating white liberal condition. They believe if they hate themselves enough and repudiate their natural born white ethnic identity, then their "others" will love them more for it.
The same can be said for their obedience to the vax and mask-up mandates. They're eager to gain the approval of authority and of their likeminded peers. They're afraid to be ill-judged in the minds of others. Honestly, the older I get and the more I see it, the more it strikes me as some type of Stockholm Syndrome.
