I went through a phase like that but found it to be much less fragile and more performant to use separate tools. Vim, tmux, Mutt, etc.

It works if you're an engineer. But the plain old Operations stuff ain't up to it, and the non-technical staff just can't.

Amazon has used Ubuntu as the OS for their customer support monkeys for like a decade now.
