Why is retro gaming booming?

all the new shit is bad

everyone wants to go back to a "better time" without realizing or thinking about what made that time better
so they latch onto the superficial consumption options available when they were last truly happy

Here’s an interesting video on it. Tl;dr it’s the Jews

Because zoomers are quite literally too retarded to emulate games
Jackson Nguyen
You can emulate those for free and you don't even need decent hardware. All the good games have already been made.
Jaxon Ramirez
Man maybe I should sell my old games. Have every Pokemon game made up until HGSS. RSE going for over $100 each? Thats crazy.
Jackson Scott
physical products are designed for human use. all-digital is cold and alienating but also buggy and unsatisfying.
Jackson Parker
these must be no more than 10-15 dollars on ebay they made billions
Cooper Nguyen
is not crazy when you realize video games have always been like 60$
so its less than a 2x on investment
Nathaniel Howard
because the men that grew up with these games are dealing with post wall women so they return to the good times
Cameron Murphy
pokemon went to shit after pokemon silver.
Angel Wood
Zoomers realized all the new stuff is garbage

80% this

I honestly miss when visual aesthetics were limited and defined by the technology of the time, like 80s car dashboards or low-res/badly colored tv. The reach for HD media, to be as lifelike as possible, left something behind I can't really describe
Elijah Watson
eventually, those games will have the same value as rubies, sapphires and emeralds.
Hunter Wilson
I'm pretty sure GBA games were $30 on release. $60 was only for console and has been the standard since the 90s if not before that. I'm surprised they haven't increased prices to be honest.
Brayden Wright
Vidya game depreciate less than dollar. Investment grade carts.
Adrian Garcia
It's nostalgia. People who grew up wanting these things now have some disposable income, allowing them to buy them now. Same with retro tech, cars, etc.
Cameron Ward

bubble scam by the same retards that think comic books are worth billions.

This
Although it doesn't even have to be old
I went looking for a N3DS thinking they shouldn't be that expensive since they were discounted pretty recently but fuck no they cost more now used than they did new
Anthony Stewart
Biedermeier.
People want to live in good times again, even if it's an illusion.

I’m guilty of this with television and film.

You let (((them))) into gaming and look what they did. They killed it hard. I hope you nerds learn something from all this by the way.
Aaron Hernandez
Inflation. Physical assets hold much more value than a shitty fiat currency.
Asher Morgan
Modern gaming is shit. Its either all moviegames or thinly veiled gaming/casinos designed to suck whales wallets dry.
Colton Gomez
Eli Miller
Same reason why old music is becoming more popular: new is mostly just rehashed or contain little to no effort.
William Price
This.
Brandon Torres
Jews
People want to buy into nostalgia because they haven't been allowed outside for the past 2 years.
Nolan Clark
people miss the past
Hunter Nelson
It's because realism that isn't actually real makes humans uncomfortable on a deep psychological level. It's why screentests of the most realistic CGI available bombs with test audiences. So, they have to tweak it to make it visibly not "real" real in order to make audiences less uncomfortable.
Luis Wood
some spergs on youtube push it after some richfag (long nose tribemen) push it and everyone follows
Lincoln Martinez
>The reach for HD media, to be as lifelike as possible, left something behind I can't really describe
We're not playing these games to emulate real life. I miss the colours too.
Nathaniel Ramirez
It's why reboots of 80's/90's shows are so popular rn
Julian Gomez
Yeah, and I don’t watch any modern reboot shit. I don’t think anybody does.
Juan Scott
Pretty much this
Tyler Rodriguez
Games didn't start being $60 until Xbox 360 games were coming out. Are you over 18?
Tyler Adams
Modern games are hopelessly pozzed
Ryan Garcia
Cause new games suck, and instead of ditching their addiction they decide to over pay for older games that a lot of times don't live up to the memories.
Luke Stewart
too real
William Flores
Exactly, since it would be foolish to try at that scale it pushed the artists to just do what they wanted. I'm definitely a weirdo though, I've seen modern zuckergram style pop art that to me is inspired by the gradients and abstract design of old textbooks, and even those catch my attention
Grayson Phillips
Gosh there was something just so magical by the old sonic series.
Leo Ramirez
I'm confident saying the majority of the people watching these reboots are people that don't even know the original exists
Aaron Carter
Well you guys are going to have to bring it all back. I know Any Forums doesn't like to fight because muh FEDs but you can still do things to win. You virgins can always pick up coding and make your own games with the spirit of how games used to be. Be like the developers of the past and do it for a passion project. Now here is the thing you do to win okay, so listen. If you make it big, do not, DO NOT, sell out to jews. I know you want the money, I know you want to wealth, but you have to win the bigger battle, do not sell out. You want to starve the beast and provide competition. Even if you are small you will know you are a threat when they come offering you money for your product. Just say no thanks and keep sales.
Aiden Cooper
Same thing with music.
Easton Howard
SNES/N64 games were sometimes $80
Christian Moore
I’m confident saying the majority of the writers don’t know they exist, either.
Sebastian Sanchez
I agree as well. Everyone is always saying “oh we need the 1080p HD 4K graphics omg it’s sooo realistic” and in every game now it’s made to look at high quality as possible but to me just some regular graphics that aren’t too fuzzy but aren’t too realistic is best for me
Jace Parker
I fired up this bad boy the other day and it's incredible how well it holds up.
Yeah the graphics are impressively outdated and janky, but that just gives it a unique character.
New games all look the same.
Adam Ross
Better times for most people who are really into the retro gaming hobby, usually a mid-30's white male who grew up playing these video games, really meant "way less niggers and mexicans in my neighborhood". They played the games with their white friends in their white neighborhoods. Maybe the occasional black kid or Asian kid was in their friend group, but there was a sense of belonging and understanding in the friend group because they were all the same race with the same shared culture. The nightly news wasn't constantly covering stories that painted whites in a bad light. They're adults now, with adult jobs and adult responsibilities. They probably have a programming job or other computer-centric career. This means they are exposed to Indians and asians constantly. They see a youtube video in their recommended list for a retro game they grew up playing and yearn for that nostalgia. They consume and get a small dopamine hit. But they don't realize what they really miss about those better times.
Josiah Myers
I like to pick up and play sometimes. I couldn't give a fuck about gay stories all new games want to tell.
Jeremiah Moore
Why are there so many emerald carts without stickers? There's a ton on eBay. Are they fakes?
Sebastian Roberts
Exactly.
John Morales
Correct. Without the reclamation of the spirit that made those times, there is no point, only temporary relief, until the demonics the person let inside scoop up the rest of the positive plasma.
Justin Hall
I'm not sure if its nostalgia but almost no modern video games seem to capture the same fun and spirit of vidya pre 2008. Or is that just me?
Jaxon Flores
games take up little space so people are willing to hold indefinitely
Brody Sullivan
Incredible post.
Saved.
Eli Foster
>muh zoomers
It's millennial manchildren buying them you fucking retard.
