Because they are different-minded and the major flaw of Europeans is that they are very poor at dealing with people who are different from them. Russia’s population and size gives the rest of Europe an inferiority complex so they cannot leave it alone. Russia’s biggest flaw has been a desire to be in the Europe club.

Sort of. Every civilisation needs its foundational myth, and more often than not, that myth is based on an other. For classical Europe, that other was Islam. For the modern West, it was Nazi Germany. With them no longer in the picture, any traditional, conservative nation (Russia, yes, but also consider Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran, etc.) will have to do as its wicker man to ritualistically burn.
