that doesnt describe me but I'll assert my own answer as the truth.
They were only "right wing" because they were a joiner and were around other right wingers. They said and did what they needed to in order to fit into their local culture. Then they go to college and their social performance gets them ostracized. So they adopt a new social performance to fit into this new group. The new group offering them (supposedly) a career and a new life. When they return home with their cosmopolitan ways they dont find it valuable to switch back for the sake of their social standing with people who dont offer them anything.

I was pretty much fully against socialism of all kinds until I heard a story about a guy who time travelled to the future. In the future he experienced a perfect socialist society where there was no federal or state governments. Only city states. These city states were governed by an extremely advanced crystalline AI network incapable of abetting dishonesty. He said it was great, and that everyone had everything they needed all the time, but the problem was that no one really had any incentive to do anything, which would lead to collapse eventually. I'm not so hateful of socialism now.

The reason there are so many stories of left wingers becoming right wing is that left wing is the default today.
When someone with a small squishy brain first encounters a right wing argument in its raw form at age 17 - 30, and accepts it, their world view is destroyed, and they have to reconstruct it.
Unfortunately they usually end up importing a new world view from some online grifter or Any Forums and continue being just as retarded.

Yea me. Would say I was originally left-leaning, rather than a "leftist". More the hippie-kind. Believed in the good in the heart of man and just wanted people to take better car of each other and the planet. Matter-of-fact I still do. Luckily I was born with an inborn ability to never trust newspapers and what I saw on TV. I have never trusted politicians. That being said, I nearly trustd Trump. I used to trust leftist media a bit more because I percieved it aligned more with compassionate and ecological ends. Never fucked with communism though. It was always very clear to me that it is a dead ideology that ends in "didctatorships". Was more of a round-table democratist. Eventually I started coming here and now I see that though I saw a few layers deep this thing goes way, way deeper than I ever possibly imagined at the time. I thank God for that, bringing me here. This place really has changed my life.

I used to be a libertarian. Then I met a nigger. pol showed me how the jew uses libertarians to rape the world for profit. Long ago, pol was stuffed full of libertarians, people who believed that the greatest good would come from minimizing government and enabling citizens to work without restrictions. I see few libertarians here now. Probably shitposting, but you sound young. A huge chunk of human beings go from being liberal to conservative in middle age, as they become more accustomed to paying tax, having bills, etc.
There is a widely it's historically widely stereotyped in literature/sociology.
e.g. If you're in your 20's and conservative you have no heart, but if you're in your 30's and are not conservative you have no brain.
As humans interact with other groups of people, experience groups outside their own philial circles, and become disillusioned with woefully abusive and ineffective government/corporate/societal control of their effort, work and assets, they become more and more rightist.
The native position of a baby is leftism.
