Indie record label owner here, I also wrote an industry column for a guitar magazine for years. Even artists at Neil Young's level are making maybe $100 per mo from streams on Spotify, it's the lowest income stream they have, BY FAR. i-tunes pays well, and most services have had to follow suit, but strictly streaming sites are paying maybe .00015 PER STREAM, meaning you need millions of streams to even justify tracking it.
Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and the rest of the hippie boomers aren't making shit from Spotify anyway so it's a great way to get some publicity, woke points and focus on outlets which pay better.
Show the accounting and let's see how much this really matters to Neil Young, who SOLD HIS CATALOG anyway and has NO SAY over where his music does or does not appear.
