Do you need DYSPHORIA to be trans?
Do you need DYSPHORIA to be trans?
Yes, even if it’s just a little bit. I don’t believe you need all the different specific kinds of dysphoria, it comes in many forms, but the people insisting you don’t need any dysphoria at all to be trans and dismissing all disagreement as “hate speech” is kind of concerning.
yes
you need DIAPERS to be trans.
yes, otherwise you're a larper or agp
i've never heard a single compelling reason to transition other than dysphoria. however, sometimes people think they don't have dysphoria because extreme truscum say that anything short of blackmailing your parents with threats of suicide from three years old is merely "trending." feeling too hairy and being afraid of male pattern baldness, for instance, can be dysphoric feelings, depending on their source. if you are afraid of going bald BECAUSE you won't be able to look as female anymore, that's dysphoria. whether or not the dysphoria is clinically significant and needs to be treated with hormones depends on how dysfunctional the person is living cis. and if you respond "but i just want to be the little girl, i have no dysphoria" i would ask you to seriously consider the breadth of your wanting
T.B.H you don't need to be trans to be trans
>feeling too hairy and being afraid of male pattern baldness, for instance, can be dysphoric feelings
Wut
These are literally feelings that every single man or woman feel. With that criteria how you separate the feelings of "not wanting to be unatractive" from dysphoria?
The more I think about it, the more it's true. A cis man who simply prefers to dress in women's clothing is not trans. But when they go out in public they will face discrimination and transphobia from time to time like a tranny does. They look trans to some people and socially experience aspects of trannyness. They don't need to be trans to be trans, they're trans tho. Just like everyone else who "isn't trans" but is actually trans.
>And that's a good thing
read the whole post. the word "criteria" is plural
No. Trans is better understood as something you do, and it is (and always has been) an umbrella term encompassing:
-People with physical dysphoria (to various levels)
-People with social dysphoria (to various levels)
-People with social and/or physical euphoria (to various levels)
Trying to control people's gender is stupid. Let people be themselves and it's a non issue. Stuff like SRS should be reserved for people with physical dysphoria, but other than that let people express themselves as they will.
>Trans is better understood as something you do
So being trans is like roleplaying?
>People with social dysphoria
What is social dysphoria, and how could a person have it, but not body dysphoria?
Wrong post
Social dysphoria is not a thing and makes no sense.
yeah. and if you want to socially lump yourself into the group that deals with society bias then you need to be doing something about it that visibility changes your appearance in a way that makes you look trans
No, you don't. If you:
>take HRT
>change your pronouns from he/him to she/her or vice versa
>legally change your name
>always wear the clothes more commonly associated with those of the opposite sex
>get FFS/FMS and SRS
then you're trans even if you don't have any gender dysphoria. Many would reply to that saying if you do all these things you simply must have had at least some gender dysphoria at some point, but then it's just begging the question.
Social dysphoria is 100% a thing and in fact the term "transgender" was popularized by trans women who were more socially dysphoric and didn't want to chop their dick off so much as simply adopt the feminine gender role and means of gender expression (vs. transsexual, the physically dysphoric trans women). By far, social dysphoria and social transgenderism is more widespread and has a much longer history
It gets more complicated than that though because there are:
>people with social dysphoria and physical dysphoria but not including genital dysphoria
>people with social dysphoria and physical dysphoria, including genital dysphoria
>people with social dysphoria and no physical dysphoria
>people without social dysphoria but with physical dysphoria, not including genital dysphoria
>people without social dysphoria but with physical dysphoria, including genital dysphoria
>people without social dysphoria or physical dysphoria (aestheticpilled transmaxxers on HRT)
if you do these things without gender dysphoria you're an agp
Nah, there are no rules anymore. anyone can be anything.
I think you should just be able to do whatever you want, I don't see why you would want to full on transition without dysphoria esp cause of the social repercussions, but imo if someone wants to do it that's just a decision for them to make
i basically dont care
id imagine almost all trans people do have dysphoria, but i dont really care if someone doesnt
i have dysphoria, and i would never want to prove that to anyone, so im not going to expect anyone else to either
