when i had corona the first time i had no taste for like 2 weeks and then my feeling of taste was fucked for like half a year, so yeah, good luck i guess
i think i had corona a second time after that without taste loss, but still, first time was kinda weird, even though i had high temperature for only 2 days and only light coughing

although to be honest people who don't chase hard alcohol are kinda idiots who are so obsessed with trying to show their "masculinity" and how "tough" they are that they just lessen both their enjoyment and the effect of alcohol, no chasing is just not the way you have to drink many of those hard liquor drinks
