How fucked are you, trans anons?
The source lists specific policies effecting trans (and other lgbt) people, state by state. The consensus: outhern trannies are ngmi.
in Colorado, things are good. don't miss the south.
It does seem like Colorado has some cities that are very lgbt friendly, from people I’ve spoken to. Why do you think it’s different than the surrounding states?
Living in Colorado is great, even if I live on the western slope. I will never go to the south again.
negative state but all my docs are changed so
i live in a dark green state and frankly it makes no difference. even if i have rights on paper, people around me are still overtly hostile. employers are reluctant to hire trannies, abusive to them, and replace them at the first opportunity. we consistently have one of the highest trans murder rates in the country too, although that's mostly a black trans problem. my point is that no amount of legal "protections" make a difference if everyone around hates you and doesn't hesitate to show it
At least you can get your documents changed.

fine rn, the worrying thing is in 5 or so years i'll have to find an academic job, and there aren't a great many of those, so it might involve moving to a red state
inshallah not though, hopefully i am productive and have a good dissertation and become a very desirable candidate
I thought academic jobs are more common in blue states?
It's soul crushing
i want to move back so bad, sisters
dark red tranny about to move to dark green maybe things are looking up
literally in the pacific northwest and i still get fucked, thanks montana
Montana is a very bad state
it's just the vibes idk how it got this way but there's inertia to it
also, yeah. lived in NC for a while, but it was actually 95% fine bc I lived in a super blue part. the people around you make much more of a difference than the laws.
I'm in a similar position as I'm applying to grad schools right now and, while I hate living in California for other reasons, I definitely don't want to spend the next 4-6 years in a dark red state.
I live in a dark green state that scores nearly perfect on its tranny rights scorecard. Which is wonderful except for the fact that over half the state (by land area) is insanely hostile towards trans people. So once I start transitioning... there is no way in hell that I am visiting any of THOSE places.
This means that I mostly stick to the safest (bluest) parts of the state. Also... let's be real... the insane transphobes like to visit the "safe" areas as well. Some of them even live there (as a minority). So with the exception of a very few micro-environments (mostly gay bars)... I always feel like I need to be watching my back. I always feel like I need to be hyperaware. Yes, what I am describing is basically PTSD.
Maryland/DC?
Why do you hate ca? Thinking of moving there
Some of my gripes are personal and related to specifically growing up in LA. The big universal problem is that it's ridiculous expensive. For example, you can't get anywhere without a car, yet the government taxes you heavily for it while also not building infrastructure to actually replace the need for cars.
Depending on how left leaning you are (I'm assuming you're moderate and don't currently live in a liberal state), you'll encounter a lot of annoying rules and restrictions. There's no challenge to the Democrat party here, so they can get away with shit.
If you're specifically interested in the LA, I would advise against it. It's not a liberal, LGBT haven; it's dirty, hot shithole.
>Maryland/DC?
yeah MD. pretty much indistinguishable from southern bumpkin culture unless you happen to live in the center of the state
