I want to look good because just like I can appreciate a beautiful scene of nature or a beautiful painting, I want what I see in the mirror to be aesthetically pleasing to my eyes in the same way. Imitation is the highest form of adoration, I pursue beauty for beauty’s sake.

The argument is that subconsciously you're doing it to find a partner, or just to be looked at positively by your peers, whether you realize it or not.
