i'm trying to level with you that I don't think I should be racist, I'm just trying to articulate why I think I feel that way.
It's not the language per-se: it's the societal wide acknowledgement we make toward black people that says we can tolerate their moral failing because of their color.
For instance: poor white people don't get this benefit. There are no scholarships, and no outcry when they're treated equally unfairly. Black people essentially have a race wide union to appeal to.

Stop shaming people for having pattern recognition. It's natural and literally the instinct that has kept humans alive for thousands of years. Everyone knows not every person of x, y or z group is le bad obviously, but everyone is also aware of WHY YOU CAN'T GO OUTSIDE AT NIGHT IN BAD NEIGHBORHOODS. Because a black youth will rob you, rape you, shoot you or all three. This is reality and everyone is aware of it and ethnicity is obviously an aspect.

So what's the alternative? Killing all black people? Exiling them all to africa? There are black people who just want to live normal lives and lumping them in with everyone is just fucked up. I live in New Zealand, we have a pretty controversial issue with sentences being brought down to the bare minimum for minority gang members because of their racial background. The judicial system seems to think that our racist society makes them significantly less responsible for their crimes.

I don't think you're really trying to understand what I'm saying. I'm telling you that I shouldn't be racist, but I find it hard to not be racist considering what goes on around me. Perhaps some day I will have the level of empathy necessary to overcome the frustrating reality in front of my eyes.
