Thing is, you don't apply for this shit remotely, you have to get to Europe on your own first. But even if we do so and try to apply for asylum, we almost always just get deported because technically Russia is a developing European country where there's no human rights violations, legbutts aren't persecuted on the state level, it's not illegal to be gay, etc.

Sanctions targeting oligarchs/state officials only do not work, that's already been tried after 2014 and it only emboldened Putin who came to the conclusion he could start an actual war with no meaningful consequences for his country; you have to target the entire economy to make its ruling class feel any pressure, it's the only way that doesn't involve starting an armed conflict.
And let's not kid ourselves, the russians who actively oppose Putin get plenty of attention from the West, but they're also politically insignificant. When they make too much noise they get the Navalny/Litvinenko/Politkovskaja treatment.

There's actually no such law in Russia. The anti LGBT propaganda law isn't one. It's not illegal to be gay, you can't even be arrested for it, your just get fined if you do PDA in front of kids. Even the new revised version where you can't do PDA and mention being gay in front of anyone anywhere isn't really persecution because we aren't being thrown into prison for it, we just get fined which isn't seen as persecution. And the way locals treat us is completely irrelevant.

Because they didn't apply them. Most putin's oligarchs enjoyed themselves in US and EU countries freely. One of them got portugese citizenship right in the middle of putin accumulating the military on the border.
