I agree in general but Sayaka did say that she wanted to make Madoka her wife which caused the infamous pic related. And there's a whole manga where in another time loop Kyoko hangs out with Mami and it's kinda gay. And playing with these relationships and alternate universes sort of helps fully explore the characters.
Still find Kyoko and Sayaka very compelling as a couple however.
