Personal question, if I'm getting a voiceless resonance sound that matches the transvoicelessons one, but I can't add sound to it, what am I doing wrong?
Where do I go specifically for learning how to learn to sing? In the last thread people said my normal voice was ok, but I spend a lot of time singing and kinda wanna know how to fix it since I know it isn't good yet. voca.ro/15r3Etxsbxp0
I think that the second one is probably the best and it is close to passing, but if you were to try to constantly use #3 and got to a point where it doesn't sound kinda kinda fucky it would be even better.
Hudson Garcia
everyone already has too good of a voice to be using a thread like this :(
Dominic Cook
voca.ro/16G8W8H15SCc This is a recording I made yesterday just fucking around, but I think it's the best my voice has ever sounded. By the way, when I say I should raise the pitch, I mean I should raise it to what it is in that recording, not EVEN MORE than that. I dunno though, do I pass or what? I don't care if it's nasally or whatever, as long as it sounds like the voice of a female human being. None of these sound good, and none of them are resonances. I'm not super knowledgeable about the terminology, but what you're doing here is raising your pitch. Learn proper resonance with maybe #2 and fix the nasality and it'll sound a lot better.
> if I'm getting a voiceless resonance sound that matches the transvoicelessons one, but I can't add sound to it, what am I doing wrong?
i have the same problem and i think it could be youre not getting the resonance the right way, in the clips it doesnt really sound right either, it sounds like youre adding nasality to compensate and raise the resonance, which i do alot too, i guess try to move other parts of your throat to raise resonance, its very vague but just experiment more and dont keep trying what youre doing now.
your man voice and the first one are the best, the last two sound incredibly strained and fake. even your man voice isn't too bad, it can kinda pass as in the middle. female pass chica pass male pass male pass female pass female pass
Jose Sanders
cool!
Jayden Gonzalez
>female pass Awesome, you've got no idea how happy this makes me!
Sounds pretty good. I think your "limit" voice will be perfect with some more time, good work. Yup pass Sounds like a young guy. Oh yea, got to the part where you're ftm. Passes at least, good for you. Two months? Thats great then, you'll be golden. Ah, just saw you're green. Had my vocaroos mixed up. Nice shit man Very nice enjoyed it gj user. Sounds like a girl yup Great female pass, nice voice. Oh shit this is you, this is a huge difference from when we vc'd nearly a year ago. Good stuff, out of the 'gay male' range to me and sounds female now, nice job.
vocaroo.com/13zkxpl3PK1T You sound like you're going through puberty (voice crack lol), but that makes sense. You sound young but the way you talk is charismatic, I like it. You sound male regardless, and your voice is probably still getting deeper too. Congrats and good luck!
Blake Green
Does the voice breaking and sounding like a teenager eventually go away, or is that a permanent thing?
Anthony Cox
Yeah, it does, it's a result of your voice currently changing, which is why it occurs in puberty for cis men and then goes away. Same for ftms >the way you talk is charismatic, I like it. Damn thanks user means a lot to me, charismatic is I all I hope to be.
Luis Jackson
i've been trying to do the exercises, but they seem to easy... if that makes sense?
like am i just doing them wrong? or is there some benefit to just doing these easy exercises over and over? and idk how to translate them into speaking.
Grayson Allen
but srsly what exercises could i use to make it sound right when singing like this? i like singing along with the radio in the car constantly and in various places in public so even though im not the best i dont want it to out me lol
Nathan Collins
I've only been going through male puberty for 2 months retard. Of course it does. Takes 2/3 years for it to reach its final tone.

voca.ro/12SlOOM9xALr >My regular man voice kek'd. You sound like a woman, and the first one is def the most natural sounding. I won't lie, there are some male sounding elements but overall femoid passing passes, voice sounds strained tho Sounds really nice, pretty voice voz re hermosa y te oyes como mujer 100% ye u pass, maybe not as an adult tho ur right based, male pass obv kek voice passes but too funny too be woman sounds good, pass pass, but as pubescent boy

You have some moments of brilliance that shine through what is otherwise a very forced and uncomfortable. You can get VFS if you can afford it, it will probably help? But I think you'd be perfectly fine if you loosened up a little as is the case with many people here who are forcing their voice a bit too much. Just in your case you're forcing your voice a lot too much.
Benjamin Bennett
i was very much trying to push myself there. my voice was v strained after practicing for an hour or 2. i can record another though i doubt it will be better just less strained
Dylan Gutierrez
>i doubt it will be better just less strained
Less strained is better. Many focus too hard on pitch at the expense of sounding smooth and natural and comfortable. Sounding comfortable at 170hz will pass better than sounding strained and anxious at 220hz.
vocaroo.com/1frgVWNA76QJ im sorry i sat too close to my microphone. i do have a more natural comfortable voice that sits at 170hz but i dont want that voice, i want it even higher and i feel like i just have to push myself until i get over the straining.
9/10 you sound like a nerdy girl I think because of your manner of speaking but also your voice sounds a bit constrained. I don't know the technical terms or anything but it seems like you don't open your mouth a ton when you talk which reads as sort of shy which to me makes me think nerdy. You'd be 10/10 if your voice was a little more open I think. But again I don't actually know anything I'm just operating on intuition here.
Tyler Ortiz
thank you! I think my voice would be a lot better if I actually used it. I haven’t used the voice outside of my bedroom, ever i still use my guy voice 99.99999% of the time
I like your normal voice but I will grant you that it's got some qualities that I don't often hear in cis voices but I don't think anyone would ever mistake it as male though. If you really MUST get out of the androgyny range why not shoot for just at it and let your vowels etc... dip down into the androgynous range. So shoot for like 180hz or whatever. You need to avoid making your speaking voice too high or you won't be able to emote. Props for putting in the effort and getting out a flipping spectogram. You're gonna make it annonette, I like you and your style.
Nathaniel Jenkins
>i still use my guy voice 99.99999% of the time
I hope that changes for you someday. You sound good and I think your voice is ready for the world outside.
Jaxson Scott
voca.ro/1cl8vQzqjx7n i feel like my accent screws me.. the way i pronounce some of the words and vowels with my accent RLY drops them. and yeah.
You aren't wrong about your inconsistency. Like I said you have flashes of brilliance. I feel like focusing on expanding on those moments when you sound cis is the thing to do. Figure out what you're doing there and go with it. Also try to be consistent about your "breathiness" because it's coming and going as well.
Camden Edwards
can you give me like, in terms of time in the clip, like between seconds X:XX and Y:YY i sound i guess optimal? then i can try recreate those moments
Logan Green
fuck I just realized how little I’ve been practicing lately
I HATE living with unsupportive family that works from home. I can’t train loudly enough and there’s no time. I won’t have a car til July at the earliest and I need way more practice than just a drive’s worth every day
I've been called ma'am and gendered female at work a few times but I still feel like my voice is clocky, thoughts? voca.ro/1nuaYE3f8g7Z I do admit I stopped training/straining cause got lazy, I can put in more effort and maintain a higher pitch and resonance.
Sounds pretty good. Androgynous for sure. I'll bet if you added just a little more inflection to your voice you'd get gendered female 100% of the time. Barring that you'll just have to increase pitch and resonance slightly.
Brandon Watson
I have a tonsillitis no

vocaroo.com/1bh4SP4FBHJt u can just skip to 40s or so here. just doing dumb stuff and sitting too close to microphone again at the start. thisll be the last post so i dont waste more of ur time but thank u so much for feedback
Nolan Watson
>can't hear it fuck, I can't talk loud bc don't want other people in the house to hear me >sexism sorry, just a joke. You're genuinely funny tho
When you said "listening back in the recording" that sounded really good. I know what you mean. You've got to train yourself to feel when it's right and that's hard but I know you will make it. You have all the parts you just have to put them together. You're beautiful and like I said I love your attitude. You're gonna make it happen.
Elijah Butler
>first, that's sexist
I know. That was the joke. Because someone earlier said you lost points for being funny.
I can hear a little tremble from strain in your voice, and it sounds a bit thin. Like your mouth isn't opening much same as another poster. It just doesn't sound relaxed. I don't know how else to put it. You're doing good I can just hear your effort which is what keeps you from 10/10. Should sound effortless.
Joshua Long
I'm peacing out for the night. Loved rating you all. I deleted my vocaroo which nobody rated lol but I give myself an 11/10 because I love myself and you all should love yourselves too. Take care anonettes.
I know my voice is rly clocky, still working on resonance stuff Should I try to talk louder when practicing? i've found that if i go louder, my resonance will be a lot shakier and i'll feel much more strained
id appreciate if someone who knows what theyre doing could offer some input
Jose Brown
yo how do i sound like a cool androgynous stoner chick?
Evan Robinson
step 1. be cool chick step 2. get depressed step 3. smoke weed
Cooper Moore
fucked up at step one (it's not the cool part) (okay maybe i'm not cool but i was getting at the whole "be a chick" thing)

what the fuck how can someone fuck something as basic as being a chick up? its not rocket science!! you trying to tell me that your body can't even pick the right fucking gender to grow into?? some people baka
kinda curious what yall think since a lot havent actually heard my voice.
My voice never really dropped and I've never voice trained before but I still think I sound like an 8 year old boy cause I've sounded like this since I was an 8 year old boy lmao

Having fucked up hormones my entire life honestly hasnt been great despite what anyone else thinks...
My vocal chords are feeling super irritated. Curious how bad it’s making me sound
Daniel Turner
when i try to raise resonance high enough it feels like im damaging vocal chords or something and i have to stop for a day or two for it to recover, and if i dont engage that part i cant raise resonance high enough, what am i doing wrong?
Charles Rogers
FTM. I've really been trying hard to perfect my "masculine" voice. It's harder than anticipated but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it voca.ro/1azmskxBg2yo
So I’m a bit of a tourist to these voice threads, so excuse my ignorance. I’ve been voice “training” for as long as I’ve trooned out (10 years). Technically I’m done “training,” but the thing is it’s always a conscious effort for me to keep my fem voice. Even after all this time, if let’s say I’m mega tired and completely unable to focus then there’s a chance that my M voice comes back. When talking to other trannies I’m always told how great my voice is, but seriously getting tired of always having to focus on it. I’ve never been able to subconsciously just keep my fem voice. So with all that said, I kinda feel like all hope is lost unless I opt for VFS. Should I? And who’s the best in the business these days? Last I heard many girls were going to Korea, anyone specific I should look at? Should I even think about doing this? Kinda feel like all the training is moot when I wake up at 3AM to an office call and I sound like a fucking guy because my brain hasn’t woken up enough to adjust my voice yet.
Julian Cook
voca.ro/1oU5lrVBafy7 Feels like I've hit a limit and keep sounding male no matter how much i practice. Does anyone here have advice for me?
Tyler Wilson
you don't sound male tho
Brayden Hill
ok, so I've been practicing for ~3 weeks now (I'm from ~2 weeks ago) I've been practicing trying to control my larynx and even though I think I've been doing decently (I'm getting close to swallow height without having to strain. but, even still I feel like the resonance isn't right, is it that I can't bring it high enough? + I feel like I get kind of nasally when I bring it up. voca.ro/1aO2sj1IuhTs voca.ro/1mWVwvP3UT92 (also, even though I'm not really working on it, I threw in some pitch here, which I realize starts to drop quickly when speaking, prob just need more practice)
so, any tips on resonance? and compared to my previous stuff from the 2 weeks ago, does it seem to have improved?
Levi Ross
i think you are sounding pretty good, maybe a bit strained now
Gabriel Flores
tnx, I def need more improvement so it's not so uncanny I feel. but yea I agree I strain a little bit. especially when trying to raise pitch, I think I just need to practice more and take time find the right/relaxed way. loosen up the jaws when doing it, maybe practice talking quieter since I seem to have to get louder for it to work, & focus on other stuff like that. I'll probably keep doing the exercises and stuff for another month before adding in new stuff from L's guide
im sure its obvious but i only started trying voice training today, but i do have a naturally high pitch voice, so before i go too far off track i wanted some feedback. also, any tips on "remembering" what pitch/tone you used? sometimes ill get a recording i like and then forget how to talk like that again???
Noah Taylor
anyone here have experience with the Undead Voice course? is it good? should i kill myself?
Idk you pass at first but then you don't >my levels are great 100% registers as a woman

I try so hard to keep my larynx raised and my resonance still sounds shitty. I can literally feel muscles in my face tensing up I strain so hard to have it at it’s max. My resonance just sucks even at it’s cap :/
I’ll try to post later if no one is sleeping on the couch and I can actually train with some volume tonight, but I doubt it
Will rate others in the morning! Feeling like an androgynous trash blob with an ungendered voice. How can I make it more feminine and have it still match how I look?
plz don't be mad, just asking, are you a cis guy or are you looking for voice training tips?
James Peterson
you actually look and sound cis in this clip. Id love to give feedback but there isn't anything to comment on here
Brandon Garcia
>voca.ro/1h1E9hnbl0tQ actual good inflection and it passes. Your levels are great and your speech patterns are woman like. I don't know you so I'm not hug boxing. I also know that voice clips usually sound better than your moment to moment speaking voice so I feel that. You're making good progress at least and should be proud of how far you've come
Adam Moore
I'm cis lol i just drop in and say hi every now and again
Christian Reyes
>i dont know you >youre making great progress huh

your voice is actually beautiful I don't really hear much of a difference between clip 1 and 2, ig clip 2 sounds a little better I think your resonance and open quotient and everything like that is great! Just your intonation is kinda different than normal intonation, although I kinda like it anyways
Owen Jones
voca.ro/1njYfrNfaZWr ik my voice is horrible and honnish rn, I'm sorry, I'm trying to make it better your voice passes perfectly, it sounds very feminine already that's because of your own mental problems, Persephone holy shit it's not obvious at all that you started voice training today, that's so surprising because your voice almost passes already, I'd say just keep doing what you're doing >voca.ro/1aO2sj1IuhTs 2nd voice you need to up your resonance, but otherwise on the right track, although it sounds a little like a stereotypical gay male voice 3rd voice your pitch is waaay too high compared to your resonance and it sounds like a cis guy doing an impression of a female voice. A lot of people don't realize but pitch is not actually that important in determining the gender of a voice >voca.ro/1mWVwvP3UT92 exact same thing
Hunter Phillips
Thank you lol
Sebastian Thompson
does my voice pass?
Daniel Bennett
yes
Daniel Hall
work on resonance

am I'm going to try and work on being able to raise my larynx a bit higher, but I don't feel like I have a ton of room left to go up. I'm just a tiny bit lower than my swallow position (like if I do a rough measure (using my fingers on my throat) I can raise it ~4cm from neutral position and swallow position is ~5cm raise, not sure if that info helps). will that tiny bit of a raise make a lot of a difference, or will I have to supplement the resonance with other stuff? and yea Ik that pitch isn't as important, I just try and do small and not as often practices to try and be able to hit the range a bit easier/consistently, so when I do practice on it more I have a bit of a basis. but it's def not my main focus.
Elijah Gutierrez
damn we're in the same position then I'd say don't do that 3rd voice because it's on the wrong track I just googled it and apparently the average vocal tract length for men is 17.5 cm, and for women is 14.25 cm, so maybe 1cm will make a big difference, but if it's that hard, you can definitely work on other things in the meantime while you strengthen those muscles. After listening to it a 2nd time, I realized your open quotient is also pretty low
Brody Hughes
I'm I guess I can see where you're coming from when you say your voice is "scratchy", although I would say it's very faint, so I don't think it's a problem. I disagree with you that it makes you sound any more gross, unattractive or masculine. I would actually say that a kind of raspy voice is way more common among cis women in the real world than you think, so it just makes you sound like a normal person as opposed to a voice actor or something. For example listen to this clip of a cis woman singing Zombie by The Cranberries: voca.ro/1fu9zYwWzCUq btw just to remind you in case you forgot, your voice passes just as good as her because your voice passes as cis

you sound very feminine and I'm super attracted to your voice it's so beautiful
Honeslty, I think at this point it's speech mannerisms. I usually talk a lot louder then probably is necessary, this also makes a lot more air pass though.
I went through the tutorials and can pretty easily mimic them at this point. I think I am just a bit too rambunctious.
pass doesn't sound too bad. you can kinda hear the effort it takes you to do that voice. I'm not sure about practicing louder since it's straining you even more. maybe just get more comfortable and consistent at a quieter stage? kek
pass really good pass the pitch in the recording sounds good but lower would be still okay pass cute pass really pretty voice pass pass as always pass as young boy sounds a bit forced, will pass on T for sure you probably dont need vfs ur normal voice passes to me the high voice doesnt a slightly higher pitch version of ur normal voice would be perfect imo but i understand if u wanna go higher pass clocky pass practice louder if you can yeah clocky sounds like you're using falsetto, don't do that work on your resonanve instead of pitch pass, good inflection pass ur getting there pass cute voice fem leaning andro no pass sorry andro passes pretty well desu really good pass clocky pass
