I saw some are XXY here - how did you find out?
I was curious, wanted to get a karyotype but they're pretty expensive, is it possible to go through insurance if I'm curious?

I'd think a doc would need a reason to order one, in my case that was consistent irregular hormone panels before I'd done any hormones
Ahh okay that makes sense. My hormones weren't weird, just gynemecostia (proud of but not the same ig)
Basically they are about $1000 out of pocket in murica, and insurance won’t cover it unless you are trying to knock someone up and can’t. I just paid for it and got the charge knocked down through esoteric channels I can’t recommend, ending up paying about $300 for $5000 worth of screaming at phone trees. That was for mosaicism though, maybe it’s easier for klinefelters people to get it covered with less screeching.
t. Broke XY-X0 freakgener
That migggght be enough but usually if there's other symptoms present as well. Weirdly my chromies came back normal lol
>That was for mosaicism though, maybe it’s easier for klinefelters people to get it covered with less screeching.
Oh wow that's... :0
Wish medical stuff was less funky here lol.
I had it done with a child for obvious disabilities. I was born with a mosaic pattern xxy and xx. I'm going without a prostrate and testes and a small dick.
Being intersex pretty much sucks from every perspective, my mom told me one time the only reason she didn’t abort me was the off chance the prenatal test came back XY, if it had hit one of the X0s I wouldn’t have been born. Likewise, most doctors aren’t willing do this kind of testing unless they absolutely have to, I assume because intersex people just aren’t supposed to know they are intersex so they can “stay normal”.
isnt hypoandrogenization in Klinefelter being caused by small balls that are unable to produce high levels of t even when stimulated? would explain tall stature too. lower e meaning fusing bones when longer. but why there is gyno and wide hips tho? afaik xxy guys have like 200 test and proportional e to it. to test for kKlinefelter just grab nutsack.
Oh its actually an even more fucked up reason. There’s a homeobox called SHOX responsible for stature on the X chromosome, and another copy leads to increased height.

:( Holy shit
I mean I think I have the typical trans thing where I want to imagine myself intersex in the body as like some sort of "proof" idk.
I think being born with like, ambiguous genitals could be horrible, one of my friends is intersex and her parents tried to lock her away basically.
Wait, were you able to actually see the results & what the lab person wrote? My results aren't available w/ any of my other tests & was only told that they were normal, is that unusual or am I just a schizoid?
Well I’m actually pretty well versed in biology, the only reason I had it run professionally instead of my lab was the stain is a bitch and a half. Naturally once I had proven to my doctor that I was more qualified than him or the lab technician to read and interpret the results he sent me scans for the 10 cells they tested. If you get a good scope and the right stain you can even see bands on the chromosomes and I wanted to look to see if SRY got dropped anywhere because I have some funky hormone numbers.
Ok, I'll look into a microscop. been a lab rat for months now, constant scans, mris, ultrasounds, panels. A growth was found in my adrenal gland but that's really all ik my endo sucks ass at trans care as is. Initially I thought I just might have Cushing bc my ACTH & Cortisol are extremely high but my E2 is double what KP says a 20 year old male should have, my LH & FSH are undetectably low. Haven't done an oz of hrt of any sort
Yeah I get it like quadruple bad being intersex and trans. I guess more accurately though I’m just an intersex person who pretended to be trans as an excuse to mod the everloving fuck out of my hormones for a variety of reasons. Sometimes another intersex person will like come at me like I’m just a poser tranny who claims to be intersex for no reason, like we get a good number of those.
I mean adrenal shit might be to blame? If its a tumor it could be anything really, maybe that tumor secretes hormones, maybe you were just genetically fucked. That should be a good enough reason for insurance to pay for it but you might need to get the damn sperm count anyway. Just say your girlfriend is mad you can’t knock her up and go from there.
>Yeah I get it like quadruple bad being intersex and trans
Ah :(
makes sense I suppose.
Probably not an issue if you're wiling to pay out of your own pocket, but this type of testing is pretty expensive, and has some privacy implications if your genetic information gets mistreated.
I really wish they would have locked me away the time I was locked up was the happiest time of my life
I'll ask my endo for that test then, ty user. As much as I think she's got my best interests in mind she seems to not know shite about what to do. From here I'm to get a diagnostic ultrasound & mammogram to check for gynecomastia? Like wtf? Isn't a physicak exam all that's needed?? On top of that she "doesn't feel comfortable" letting me start hrt until this situation is resolved or properly diagnosed. This is fckn month like 6 already
Lmao the gatekeeping. If you had klinefelters HRT would not have a deleterious effect on you. I’d say DIY if you can afford it, and don’t bank on the doctor giving you shit. But also remember that unless she’s a geneticist, embryologist, or urologist, she likely had 4 total hours of education for all intersex conditions, it is trivially easy to acquire enough knowledge to tell her she has no idea what she’s talking about and should defer to you.
Fuckn a. This while time I've had that thought in the back of my head but her promises of EV & lupron injections right off the bat have kept me from making a fuss about how slow this entire process is taking. It's been getting obv I already know more than her. She had to go before a board last week to present my case & get some help from other docs. To my knowledge she's only worked with diabetics before being out into KP's trans department
