Am i a novelty to women?

i'm a cis man but sometimes if i go clubbing or to a concert i'll wear a dress and eyeliner because it looks good. i usually get tons of compliments when i go out like this, girls telling me i'm stunning, beautiful and cute. sometimes they say stuff like "i'm proud of you" and i can't tell if they are showing genuine romantic interest in me or if they just see me as a gay best friend type figure.
i'm bisexual so i like men and women but i always get so scared flirting with women because i worry they think i'm gay

I think this is the same as men being delighted by tomboys who are into fixing cars and wearing caps. They find it cute and endearing, and yes, there's a level of condescension, but they're still happy that you're showing interest in something they like, and so they make an effort to make you feel welcome.

They love trannies who are funny gay men - drag queens, essentially - but their adoration will immediately dry up when they realize you're gynophilic. They incorrectly see you as being fun and harmless due to your lack of sexual interest in them, when they realize that it's a sexual thing and you want to fuck them it'll feel like a betrayal and won't be fun any more. They thought you were a safe guy they could relax around and bond with and you never were.
