/vtg/ - voice training general

REMINDER: IF YOU CANNOT GIVE TECHNICAL ADVICE, AT LEAST SAY IF IT PASSES OR NOT. DO NOT LET VTG DIE

Post clips of your voice training progress, discuss voice stuff, and give feedback to others. Together, we can end the voicehon epidemic.

Benchmark (to be taken in vocaroo form): “The beige hue on the waters of the loch impressed all, including the French queen, before she heard that symphony again, just as young Arthur wanted.”

The benchmark is an English phonetic pangram, containing allophones. That makes it one of the best ways to measure how your voice is developing over time.

Posted this last thread, but I only got one reply. I'm proud of my progress, but I don't know what's keeping me from sounding like a woman, unless I do and I'm just dumb. Doesn't sound like any woman I've ever heard. Someone told me to work on resonance, so I guess I'll do that?

you have the voice of a little boy

to me, you sound andro leaning fem. i think u have tranny-tells too, mainly the nasal part (to my ear at least)
definitely keep working on resonance
but you’ll get there :)

wtf

I think you sound very neutral.
For how long have you been voice training?
gave you feedback a few times, you sound female.

>I think you sound very neutral
That's what my boyfriend said. I asked him what gender he thought I'd be if he heard that on the phone, and he said it definitely doesn't sound like a man, but it doesn't really sound like a woman either. He'd just be confused.
>For how long have you been voice training?
It's hard to say, I've been off and on doing it for maybe a year or more, but I've only actually buckled down and put a lot of effort in recently, say, 5ish months? I'm just coming back from a few weeks of not doing it, but I sound the same. I believe I've stagnated at this point. I've only ever benefitted from the deepstealth videos, L's guide and Zheanna's videos have always just overwhelmed me with info and I just come out more confused. Maybe I'm stupid? I dunno. I know plenty of people just figure it out from getting feedback and augmenting it through that, so that's what I'm trying to do. I don't really know where to begin with resonance. My practice recently has been just reading random things out loud and listening to recordings of it.

Just gonna do my first take of it instead of retrying over and over so I can actually get an accurate rating to myself.

You definitely sound more fem than andro to my ear.

I don't know what it is but I can for sure clock you as trans through your voice. I'm sorry.
I can see people saying andro or fem to this. You sounded a lot more fem but when I tried listening really hard you began to sound a bit more andro to me. So maybe if someone is trying hard to clock you they will.

I'm still pretty new to voice training so as long as I don't sound super like a man I'm feeling good

Pass.
Pass, rip to the Turks

Pass! It’s not gross or disgusting!! A lot of people just don’t like the sound of their recorded voice but it def passes to Me, you sound cute :)

Does anyone have tips for not slipping out of my fem voice cause I can start talking but 20 minutes later I kind of forget to keep it going

>you sound cute
thank you!
and my tips would just be to use it more!

Honestly I agree but cis ppl are so stupid only other trannies can clock these kind of subtleties imo (as long as u look passable and don’t sound like a literal man I think they will not think twice)

>Does anyone have tips for not slipping out of my fem voice cause I can start talking but 20 minutes later I kind of forget to keep it going
That's the thing I'm having trouble with after talking for hours on end, I lose my consistency. Basically I think you may have to train your brain to set up reminders like an alarm to check if you're doing your voice or not. So you like take a second to pause, and regroup, and "restart" your voice.

>he said it definitely doesn't sound like a man, but it doesn't really sound like a woman either. He'd just be confused.
Yeah, that precisely how it sounds. It somehow doesn't sound androgynous either. Neutral is the best word to describe it.
sounds like a gay man. Keep training and you'll get there.
