I'll never understand people who want to commit suicide when literally everything shows you'll always regret it. Virtually everyone who has survived a suicide attempt says they regret it. Those who do succeed in suicide also say the same i.e. gunshot suicide, but they live long enough that they can say they regret doing it. Even those who commit suicide by hanging show signs of trying to undo the rope. Those who jump off bridges flail around in a panic upon realizing what they've done.

Virtually everything points to suicide as something you will in fact regret doing, whether it be before or during the attempt. Do you really think yourself as such a special snowflake that you'll be the one and only exception to this rule?

Yes, and had those people survived, they never would've attempted suicide again. Yes, at that moment it's self-preservation, but years later? At that point, it's regret. Every single one of them regrets it. For someone to believe they're different from every other suicide attempter, that for some reason they alone won't feel regret, is egocentric.

At the moment you pass out from the nitrogen or whatever method you use to commit suicide, you will feel worse than you ever have in your entire life. Every time you've felt bad in the past will pale in comparison to the moment your brain registers what you've done cannot be undone. Your last thoughts before fading away won't be "Finally, release." They will be "OH SHIT WHAT HAVE I DONE FUCK FUCK FUCK I HAVE TO GET THIS BAG OFF ME!" But your body is already too weak, your arms can't even move, and as your eyes panic looking in every direction for an escape (something that has in fact been documented in suicide victims), you'll regret it just as every other person whose committed suicide has.

Look, I'm not going to pretend to be a therapist who knows a solution to feeling good about yourself, but I'm just telling you: you will regret it. You will regret it more than you ever would have regretted staying alive, even if your life is miserable.

Just gotta pick a way that will kill me before I even realize something.
