>get access to free therapy
>can't take it because if I get a diagnosis my access to hormones/surgery is gonna be fucked
even though I'm literally deciding between 2 decent options it's making me want to rope
Get access to free therapy
>can't take it because if I get a diagnosis my access to hormones/surgery is gonna be fucked
Why?
>pay to get access to therapy
>mental problems only get worse
iktf
iirc some diagnoses can make them take your hrt away. so i pretty much can't go there either
doctors aren't jumping at the chance to give a schizo top surgery
if I dont get a diagnoses I can fake through a psych eval enough to be seen as normal enough/mildly autistic
Ah I thought you meant a diagnosis of GD
Honestly just weigh the costs. Is DIY or schizo meds cheaper, which are easier to access, etc.
Go to therapy, see how it goes, talk about hormones, if they don't give it to you then DIY
I'm pretty scared of DIY just because the only cheap hormones are a form I'd be scared of being like, bad quality
schizo meds might unironically be easy to get illegally I've never looked into it. I'm also not scared of pills being cut with anything
sidenote all 3 of these are me I'm just stupid and reloaded the page
what dx are you worried about user? I have major depressive disorder and some anxiety thing on my medical record and they still gave me hrt
not sure how bad your schizo problems are, but those meds fucked me up, i would avoid them to begin with, but definitely wouldn’t diy them
schizophrenia mostly, I probably have other shit but it's the only think I know has fucked up other trans people's ability to get hrt/transition
I'll remember that, but also the reason I want therapy is for a variety of things, not exclusively meds, I just don't think I could hide it from a shrink
Schizo meds are really complicated you should def see a doctor that specializes in that (psychiatrist) to help with them and find something that works for you..
Depending on where you get your HRT if they have a psychiatrist that's familiar with trans patients they might be really understanding and I don't think they'd just cut off your hrt?
I'm sure I'd eventually get hrt it's getting hormones and surgery delayed by potentially years
once you get a diagnosis of anything that can complicate your decision making they want to make sure you can make life decisions properly
I guess it dpends where you get your HRT/mental health stuff, where I went it was informed consent and they had a psychiatrist too so like you could do it all, this was a big hospital in my state's capitol though
therapy did so much for me, i was lucky to find a great group who specialized in it, it’s fucked you feel like you have to choose between the two, but yea, just be careful with the meds, they did way more to me mentally than hrt and they have really nasty side effects, like i got the urge to jump out of a moving car because of a bad reaction to aripiprazole
>informed consent
A schizophrenia diagnoses means any surgical procedures I volunteer myself for, it will take awhile to ensure I can properly consent to the surgery. I don't want an even bigger gap between getting all the money I'd need for different things and getting them
I've heard awful shit about a lot of schizo meds
you and other user are right about not DIYing them
Therapy would be helpful for a lot of stuff I have going on.
:/
idk user, all I know is that for your health it's better to get treated and find a psych with lots of lgbt experience who will understand hopefully
fair enough
I just really don't want to delay everything
shameless bump
Doctors/therapjsts can’t communicate with each other unless you sign a consent form
You should be ok to get therapy and not worry about getting hrt script cancelled
I assume a psych eval for surgery probably involves access to, you know, mental health records?
if I completely refused to let someone who's literally there to determine mental state see my medical record I think that'd raise some eyebrows
