I think everyone should try their best not to be a dick to other people if it can be avoided, but I do think that some things are situational and/or morally grey, which is probably where the more Machiavellian answers came in.

In a capitalist society you have to be dishonest to succeed it’s empathy that puts you behind and taken advantage of. While it is better to be moral it’s hard to justify sacrificing a significant portion of success to feel good about yourself. The system is what’s wrong not me. I’ll cut corners and flatter and impress to get ahead until I die. It lets me and the ones I love have a more comfortable life with things we enjoy.
