yes, they're excellent and alchemy is a central part of the gameplay, as important as combat.

atelier iris is very mediocre honestly. not rly worth playing anymore
the first mana khemia is much better than it should be but 2 sucks
the newer atelier games (arland-dusk-mysterious-ryza trilogies) are all really good. the earlier games are harder and the new ones more laid back
