you want to know what actually made MLK palatable to white america? the fact that there was a growing number of organised black groups who were way more radical, militant, and less palatable than MLK, if anything the history of civil rights shows that we should have a mixture of extremists and 'moderates' (not pick me's who cuck out on rights) to force concessions from cis people
