Make up tips

(picrel is me, yes I know my hair looks Terrible I have an awful chest cold)
I have been presenting fem since I first started transitioning one year ago and I pass sometimes but not as often as I like. I think the major issue is my makeup routine (not wearing any makeup in this photo btw so it's not a good reference image) my routine consists only of mascara, and concealer to cover up the dark circles under my eyes. I know nothing else about makeup other than how to make wings using eyeliner, which I find to flashy for daily use,and lipstick which is obviously as basic as it gets. If anyone has any tips on what kind of makeup would be best for me to try I would very much appreciate it, types of makeup, methods and styles of application. Anything would help really.

Love you guys

Sorry about the sideways photo my phone hates me

On closer inspection I realize this photo is actually really awful, I look like a mushroom lol. Still leaving it here but wow it's silly looking

user you look fine cool it with the brainworms
don't have any tips for makeup though

Lol thanks,I'm taking a break from Any Forums after this thread dies anyway, so I can pluck those Lil worms out for a while

start with concealer, about the same shade as tour skin, and lay it on thick over any beard shadow or redness from shaving, and blend outward with a blending sponge until there are no hard edges to your application, then apply a tinted moisteriser, slightly lighter or slightly darker than your skin all over your face, again blending it smooth with a blending tool, make sure not to miss your neck and arround your eyes so there are no hard edges. next I apply eyeliner to my waterline and curl my lashes, finishing by applying mascara, I use products specificly for sensitive eyes and skin arround my eyes. next I apply a primer to my upper eyelids, a light cream in the inner eye, and a light pink on the outer eye, and then blend them together with a brush until they are smoothly blended, lighter color more towards the eye it self, darker more towards the outside to make the eyes *pop*, finaly I finish up with a tinted lip-balm. either focus on your lip maleup, or your eye makeup, not both. doing both looks gaudy and gives you that drag queen look. if the threads still up after I shower and shave I'll post pics and show how I do my routine

Incredible advice thank you

i get so jealous of ppl like u sometimes and it’s just because you have such a detailed routine. i have pretty good skin and no facial hair anymore so i skip the concealer and just use a tinted moisturizer, winged eyeliner, line my lower lashline with eyeshadow, mascara, blush, and a lip color i switch up depending on how i’m feeling that day. it’s all i need to do to feel pretty good about myself but i just feel kinda basic :/

basic is good! the less makeup you have to put on the better! my routine is pretty nuch the same as yours, and honestly I skip the eyeshadow a lot unless im realy trying to dress myself up nice for something. most women wear a simple everyday routine like you and its perfectly ok!

Asking because you seem knowledgeable.
My makeup routine is moisturizer->primer->eye primer->concealer->foundation->eyeliner (+eyeshadow optional)->setting spray->lipstick.
Did I miss anything important?

isnt moisturizer meant to be the first step? next to sunscreen

I dont think so, that sounds about right! and I also use setting mist, I forgot that part lol. if it works for you I would say its all good.
I find that concealer better hides shadow when dirrectly against the skin, but usualy yes. I actualy didnt go over my skincare, but I usualy use cleanser, toner, and a light moisteriser daily. though lately ive just been useing a mild castile soap (dr bromners) and forgoeing the skincare routine since im mostly inside and not useing anything harsh or wearing makeup much

Not that user, but regular, skin-tone concealer is enough to hide beard shadow? Every time I research, I usually come across people using orange color corrector.

that would probably be better if its darker, you want to kinda counteract it with the oposite tone of what youre concealing, hence why you see pallets with blues and yellows and orange tones. I have lighter blonde/ginger facial hair that only causes light shadow, so if you have darker hair youbprobably want to go for a more orange or yellow tone to hide it

Really glad I made this thread, your all so knowledgeable

depends on how thick you have it
With thick beard stubble you need a tiny amount of red color corrector (if you're careful you can get around this with red blush) - don't cake it on and look like the crimson chin - some mtf makeup tutorials are bullshit.
Primer + foundation you like + concealer + color correction and you can hide stubble.
Thank goodness my facial stubble is fading out, I think if I wore makeup now I would be a whole lot better.

since eyeliner can be the hardest to master but make one of the biggest differences, I would recommend doing just eyeliner and nothing else on days when you would otherwise wear no makeup, just to git gud from practicing it repeatedly. Everything else doesn't take as long to master.

Cute
I wouldn’t say you need makeup, but if it’d make you feel better go right ahead

Wow thanks so much, I enjoy makeup so I'll definitely be working a bit more on it, but you just gave me a nice confidence boost and I appreciate that

Thanks for the advice, I have a mask on whenever I go out or work, so what your saying would make the most sense

Bump

ok! heres the start to the makeup step-by-step! I just got out of the shower, and while I wait for my hair to dry (I always style my hair before I do my makeup), I'll do my skincare. I already used an acidic favial cleanser in the shower and shaved, so now I'll apply vasaline to my lips (to soften them since its cold and dry right now), toner to make my face more redily accept moisterisers, vit-C serum (you can skip this, I just have old acne scars and its heloing lighten them), and finaly a light moisteriser (cetaphil). I will also be applyinn cheap alcohol-free toner and moisteriser to my legs since I just washed those. while you wait for it to all soak in and your hair to dry, its a great time to bust out the mirror and pluck your eyebrows (tons of guides online)

>just washed those
*SHAVED! just shaved my legs, hence the aftercare lol

The vasaline and toner are a nice touch, I have only been cleansing my face and adding moisturizer, never knew that toner helps it absorb, and lip balm hasn't been working on my lips recently, so Ill replace it with vasaline. these are really solid tips thank you.

now that your sleep-deprived boymoder face has been moisterised and hair has been dried and styled, its's time to actualy apply the makeup. I dont realy have hair tips, since hair can be so varried. but for those of you with very fine hair that likes to just sit autisticly straight and worse, show off your forehead that you hate, I reccomend volumising shampoos and conditioners with biotine and creatine (probably spelled those wrong). I also recomend one of these ring-light mirrors, mines a $10 knockoff that needs a routine smacking to keep it bright enough to be useful... you should probably get something nicer... an old flashlight or lantern behind a desk mirror also works pretty well

Try to work out what your skin tone is - cool or warm or neutral. Some people have an olive undertone which it looks like you might, but olives can still be cool, warm or neutral. An easy way to tell is to decide whether silver or gold looks better against your face, if gold looks better you’re warm toned, silver means you’re cool toned and if both seem to look ok you’re probably neutral. Foundations are labeled according to these classifications. The Lisa Eldridge website is pretty helpful when it comes to selecting a foundation shade and you can order a bunch of foundation samples to test drive.

Tinted moisturiser can be used as a light foundation and applied whenever

cover up redness, shaddow, and knicks with foundation, but for gods sake dont leave it like this, use a blending sponge and a blotting-motion to spread the concealer arround until its smoothly blended....

Attached: IMG_20220129_230343.jpg (3264x2448, 3.92M)

simething more like this...

Attached: IMG_20220129_230619.jpg (3264x2448, 3.71M)

Woah, that's such a huge difference

for tinted moisteriser I use the back of my hand like a pallet, and then dip my sponge into it. then blot it EVERYWHERE, make sure to blend it up nice and close to your eyes, and down your neck so there isnt a huge difference between your face and neck tone

Attached: IMG_20220129_230721.jpg (3024x3023, 1.61M)

make sure its smoothly blended and you have no harsh edges

Attached: IMG_20220129_231229.jpg (3264x2448, 3.65M)

Ok cool, makes sense so far

lots of people say to curl your lashes and apply mascara before eyeliner, but I find it easier to start with eyeliner. I just apply it to my waterline, top and bottom, like in picrel. this is by far the hardest step, dont feel bad if you striggle with this, it took me AGES to learn eyeliner, and I still cant do anything fancy like wings

forgot my pic...

if you mess up and smudge it like I did here, dont panic. just take a makeup wipe or some remover on a q-tip, and wipe it aeay, then use your sponge with your tinted moisteriser/foundation, to blend the area under your eye

Attached: IMG_20220129_232026.jpg (2448x1754, 1014.41K)

I see how much depth applying to the waterline can add, it's striking

now that your eyeliner is finaly on (apply heavier towards the outside of the eye, and lighter towards the inside) curl your lashes, and apply mascara

Attached: IMG_20220129_232533.jpg (2448x2869, 1.49M)

I got a lil carried away, but I applied mascara and tinted lip-balm, both are p simple. mascara on your lashes, lip balm just follows the outline of your lips (unless theyre super thin). you can stop right here and have a solid everyday makeup look, but this twinkhons gonna kick it up a notch and toss on sone eyeshadow

Attached: IMG_20220129_233258.jpg (1500x2516, 774.43K)

You look incredible,I'm so excited to try this myself

dab some makeup primer (or even just moisteriser!) on your upper eyelids to help the powder stick

Attached: IMG_20220129_234056.jpg (2448x2075, 1.19M)

Sorry for stupid basic questions but how do people apply to the waterline? Do you need to use pencil? I tend to use liquid and I feel like even if i could do it without flinching it'd just rub off. Also, when you're using just this light shadow and a tinted lip balm, would you consider that emphasizing either of your eyes or your lips, or do you mean that if you're doing any more than just something basic you should only pick one? Also when you say use a tinted moisturizer slightly lighter or darker than my skin, which would I want to pick when, and why? Is the primer necessary for the eyeshadow?
Either way thank you so much for this user. Huge props, I've got a bit of makeup stuff I've only used a few times but I feel like this lays it out simply enough that even I could figure it out now. How long does it take you to do something simple daily like this? I think my fatal flaw rn is that I never wear makeup because it takes me forever to apply since I just constantly mess up and it takes so many attempts I don't want to risk wasting the time, so I end up not getting practice doing it and then it continues to take lots of time.

apply the lighter eyeshaddow tone to the inner eye and blend it along the line of your eye
one sec! once I finish this I'll answer your questions

Attached: IMG_20220129_234406.jpg (2448x1728, 1.03M)

this looks a little clownish, but its a great way to show the kind of pattern you apply eyeshadow in, from here you just blend-blend-blend!

Attached: IMG_20220129_234744.jpg (2448x1319, 735.98K)

and with it all blended that concludes this lil tutorial! if I was going out I would add setting mist on to make it all stivk better, and I always bring concealer, a small blending sponge, and tinted lip-balm in my purse for when it inevitably gets messed up by a mask or eating or something. dont feel bad at all if it doesnt come out as nice as you would like. everyone starts somewhere and I was SO embrassingly bad at this at first. this is hardly law, if you find doing things in a lil different order works best for you, dont hesitate. if youre lips are super thin and your eyes are already super bold, feel free to focus more on the lips than eyes, I'm hardly an expert, this is just how I do it!

grant from college humer transitionwed??

I seriously can't thank you enough, when I made this thread I had no idea I was going to get a step by step tutorial showing me everything I wanted to know in such a understandable way. I'm so excited to start practicing and figuring out my own routine. Your an incredibly kind person for doing this and I am in your debt

>how do people apply to the waterline? Do you need to use pencil?
I use a gel pencil that neutrogena makes, in my experience, liquid is best for winged eyeliner and stuff and getting yourbwaterline is more a pencil job. my eyes flutter a lot when I do it (especialy my upper lid!) I often just have to work with the twitches, it often gets applied more in a bunch of dots along my waterline than a smooth motion, and I mess up a LOT. i just wipe up my mistake carefuly, and use my blending spong to hide the bare spot in my makeup!
>Also, when you're using just this light shadow and a tinted lip balm, would you consider that emphasizing either of your eyes or your lips, or do you mean that if you're doing any more than just something basic you should only pick one?
definately aim to emphasise only one thing, if you go ham on the eyes, go lught on the lips and vice-verca
>Also when you say use a tinted moisturizer slightly lighter or darker than my skin, which would I want to pick when, and why?
it comes down to preference! in the west people typicaly use a darker tone, since looking more taned is the fashion, however in asia, its more common to use a lighter tone, since pale akin is more the beauty standard there. I would say pick the one you prefer
>Is the primer necessary for the eyeshadow?
nope! but it sure helps it stick! you can use moisteriser too as well, its basicly just something to gum-up the powder and help it adhere!
>How long does it take you to do something simple daily like this?
it probably takes me 15-20 minutes to do my makeup most days, I boymode a lot though, so I probably would be faster with practice, my first few times it took me HOURS! just dont give up and you'll get it down!

dawwwwwwwwww, thanks! makeup was probably the most intimidateing thing for me starting out, so I just thought I woukd show yall that it isnt nearly as scary as it seems!

Just Sleep

I've been struggling with this alot, what type of application do you think is best for practicing? I have this sort of twist out cream pen and it's so hard to get it sharp enough or to get it applied all the way over

user part your hair in the middle and you'll have an easier time passing
also may i ask what you're considering for ffs? we have almost the same skull shape curious to hear your ideas
