California Crisis

This one's pretty neat and almost every frame looks like an album cover. Shame this is VHS only and didn't even get a LD. I miss when you could just make some weird little 40 minute movie with a unique detailed art style and it's just its own thing.

apperantly the sequelle was Canned due to low sales.
what a shame.

>sequelle
Are you a homestarrunner character?

It felt like really neat material for a music video that got extended more than it probably had the content for. It was still fun to watch though.

It was too unique.

The sequel was canned because the company that made it went broke so the story (such as it is) is incomplete. I don't think getting that second part would've stopped the plot from being thin, nonsensical and little more than an excuse for the fact it's like a series of animated music videos interspersed by car chases. It's the definition of style over substance.

Yeah the art was unique but it was basically just a 40 minute chase scene. And the anime just ended without any kind of conclusion.

>this was a loli back then

I assume he was just making fun of her, as he was in a previous scene.

Since she had just called him pops.

You definitely had more freedom in the OVA and bubble economy days, but the studio went broke with only 3 works to their name.
Doing something unique, original, and different was always hard.

The industry still does this though

adaptions don't count

I appreciate the uniqueness of the art but I remember not actually liking it very much. Should rewatch it.

totsukuni no shoujo got a movie? hell yeah

>every frame looks like an album cover
This OVA has godawful art. As if they ran out of budget and couldn't apply the finishing touches. This belongs in the garbage bin together with other unfinished crap like Twinkle Nora Rock Me or Green Green OVA.

Not a sequel it's literally the second half of the ova. It makes no sense as it is.

This. Gosenzo-sama, Angel's Egg, Dragon Heaven, X Densha. Can you think of anymore from the 80s? I am tempted to say Neo-Tokyo but it's more standard I'd say.

so like most anime?

I finished a rewatch of Gosenzo-sama yesterday evening. Incredible series. Fantastic acting, totally unique presentation and a compelling story that's easy to understand but also complex enough to give you lots to think about. I love it.
