LOL, the one on the right one got monkeypox on the neck, means the rebuilds are totally gay. LOL, LMAO even.

>Anno ripping off Tomino yet again
How the fuck does he get away with it?

"Get a job! Get married! Have sex!"
No.

Because the end result is better when Anno does it.

Honestly is anyone surprised?
>Asuka is a massive bitch with a bucketload of issues, choosing her would equal everlasting pain and suffering
>Rei is basically your mom except without any emotions and choosing her would equal having a lifeless sex doll with the sex not being good at all

Not a shipfag but the rebuild movies were lame simply because Anno seemed to forget what made the original + film so good. The concept of humanity being aliens fighting a war of survival against its own kind in an attempt to go back to its mother is a crazy, out there concept that could inspire scientific and philosophic debates. The interpersonal relationships between the characters were so human and relatable that it drew hours of discussion on the nature of parenthood, trauma, identity, love throughout the years. In comparison to that, rebuild just feels like an attempt to make lightning strike twice but with less charisma and a more mundane resolution that feels more like running away into a wishful ideal of normality than anything else. I'm rambling, but that last shot solidified why the films didn't grab me. 4 films of context to justify why once interesting and beloved characters are given a boring, mundane, regular life.

>The concept of humanity being aliens fighting a war of survival against its own kind
Huh? Are the Angels and the humans the same? When is that stated?

Did you just regurgitate some rough outlines of the characters you learned through some memes without watching the show? Rei is not emotionless and I'm not sure why sex wouldn't be amazing with her being a blank canvas to be painted with your most degenerate fetishes.

Jap media has a real problem with the work culture and depicting it in media
>characters beat the bad guy and become happy couple who enter adulthood and independence
>they now work 2h overtime each day and women ponder if theres a chance of finding a rich husband who gets you preggers to allow escaping the horrid work life situation to become a housewife

Is that why you bitches have been crying about this ending since the film dropped while nobody minded it in g-reco?

>thinking Shinji has to work a day in his life
He's a war hero, his life is secure

Get on the bed, user

If you just skip the "get married" part it's not too bad, you know?

The TV show confirmes that humanity is collectively the 18th angel borne from Lilith whereas the other angels are born from adam. This is why in the film all of humanity turns into LCL and returns to her combined with Rei, Nerv was an org put in place to help defend humanity/kill the other angels until they were the last ones standing, and then return to their creator Lilith.

Not him but no human and angels come from different beings

>He's a war hero, his life is secure
Did you miss OP where he is clearly wearing his salarycuck uniform

I doubt he's a wagie. He's probably on the board of directors of NERV and goes to some meetings every now and then as the son of Gendou to help determine what the fuck they're going to do now in peacetime.

>4 films of context to justify why once interesting and beloved characters are given a boring, mundane, regular life.
Not all of them. And Shinji's resolution is not even a satisfying one, even if we assume he's not lying to himself and genuinely content with it. It's like a Hollywood film where you can sorta tell the safe and non-controversial ending was shoehorned at the last minute against the director's initial wish, but here Anno doesn't even have that excuse. There's no epiphany, no catharsis, no hard earned victory. Only a hollow, resigned acceptance of the boringness of real life.

You hit the nail right on the head, user. Granted many Japanese fantasy stories seem to value the mundane world over the fantastical, something to do with their religious beliefs I think, but with rebuild you can clearly see the bias Anno had. It makes it even worse when you think back to the original and how he was not afraid to face the reality of his fictional world and the consequences of said world head on. Here, it just feels like he was tired and wanted to give everyone a boring happy end where they fuck off and live their own lives apart from one another, hence the train station scene. Anno, if you don't want to come back to the world of evangelion, great for you, but don't take it out on the characters you made.
