The trilogy was good, especially the third film. Yes it skipped stuff and had some bad cg in the first 2 films but it captured the soul of berserk. They should go down the route of 1.5 hours long OVAs with 6 months or yearly release for the rest of the arcs. Should have done that in 2016 rather than the clangserk abomination.

It's not just because of the CGI, full 2D series have the same problem. The 90s Berserk series wasn't faithful to the manga, but damn the atmosphere was top and I never see any modern anime doing this again. Nobody seems to be capable of animating serious or dark shows that actually feel dark. Even more light-hearted scenes were better than anything they would be able to depict now.
Maybe it's the annoying bright colors modern anime have? The too realistic BGs that often look like edited photos? Lack of shadows? I have no idea what it is but it's a problem with almost everything I watch. Besides from series that are light-hearted to begin with, there it doesn't matter.
