It's a better response and maybe implies that editors are allowing them to play it safe for now, but yeah it definitely doesn't mean much on its own and AA is still suffering to find an audience. If anything the refocusing may be its own version of the panic button. The quick-paced battle shonen wasn't working out, so it got reframed around something that seems to more closely resemble the author's original vision.
