Gakkou Gurashi!

After accidentally putting this manga on hiatus, I finally finished it, and I now can't hold back all these tears. What did Any Forums think about it, especially the second half?

It was bad, especially the second half. Ending included

I dropped pretty soon after they leave the school.
Honestly it suffers from the same issue almost all manga seems to suffer where the mangaka was successful with an interesting premise but has no fucking clue what to do afterwards and sure as fuck doesn't know how to end it

Second half was not as good but I still give it a high rating. Also I love Kurumi.

You didn't like the suffering of Takeya Yuki during the second half as she tries against all odds to fight the reality of their doom?

Miki > Kurumi > Yuki >>> Rii

The reveal was underwhelming and felt really rushed. After the SOL chapters it all fell apart.

Needed more Yuki
There can never be enough Yuki

The second half is a lot better than it gets credit for but the "truth" behind the zombie shit was one of the dumbest revelations I've ever seen, even with the attempts to foreshadow it. It's so bad it retroactively makes the entire manga seem dumber, especially with what Otayori did with it.

However, despite that, I did genuinely enjoy reading the entire thing. I don't have that many problems with the College arc and appreciated how much it shat on the tryhard survivalist mentality and favored true unity. The pacing is a bit too quick throughout the entire manga but it felt like the college characters were meant to have more to them, they have a fair amount of personality shown and stuff like the Degeneracy Appreciation Society's notebook in the volume extras was fun but I didn't ever feel fully acquainted with any of them by the time the focus was already moved away. Ayaka being a straight up antithesis to Yuki was hysterical, I would've liked to see a bit more of her.

The Job arc is a mixed bag, I liked a lot of it and it has some fantastic emotional beats, but at the same time it has plenty of reaching and the stakes and general ante of the story rise far too much too quickly. The epilogue and Otayori do make for a great sendoff, and I adore Yuki becoming a teacher that echoes Megu-nee. They definitely earned the eventual happiness, but I wish the solution hadn't been so absurd. The initial pitch the manga made of making something of a cure out of Kurumi's blood since she had successfully resisted infection would have been a much better idea, but they went away from that concept pretty fast.

At the end of the day I think the anime on its own is the best for taking things slower and developing various ideas more even if the characterization is slightly weaker, but the manga was still great even with its flaws.

Lol it seems like you knew exactly what the author had to do but he betrayed your expectations. Care to tell me the proper plot progresion buddy?

Miki a cute

I liked the latter half. Wasn't as good as the first half and the ending was messy, but I definitely liked it and felt things when I finished it. The story by itself maybe would get a 5 or 6 out of 10 but spending time with the characters is 9.5/10.
Imagine a series injuring and taking the fan-favorite character out of commission for the entire last arc though sasu fuckin ga

Miki is a BOY he fuck Yuki everyday.

I ended up liking everything including the live action. There's no other series like that so I do care.

In the manga they shipped Miki with Kurumi

I'm in love with this boy

Pic related made me really sad. Imagine finally coming back to the house you've grown up in and everything is the way it was before, except your family is dead. you have to leave forever, and there are undead monsters everywhere outside.

Everything from the arc when Miki joins the group up until they leave the school is absolute peak zombie fiction.

The rest is pretty good.

>when you know it was coming eventually and were dreading it the whole time but the idea hits you all over again like a truck
