The fact it's Vegetto and not Vegerotto proves that Kakarotto is Goku's Saiyan name, and that the shitty American localization is wrong, as it often is.
If the decision to localize it as Kakarot was made before Vegetto was already a thing, it could be excused, as the translation team would have no way to know better. But that isn't what happened. Both the nonsensical Vegito and the wrong but consistent with the mistake Vegerot are just ways to cope with an error that could have been prevented if they've just done their research.
