By having the show be so enjoyable on the lessons that it teaches to the point where it's not the main thing that grabs your attention.
Those designs may have been made by cultured artists who are known for doujin works and yet a true digimon fan wouldn't want to sexualize or lewd digimons due to how one realizes how the shows have so much greater things to teach beyond some fanservice. Don't get me wrong, the designs are beautiful, however, as a kid it all flies over your head compared to being a horny teen who goes "awooga, pair of tits".
Everyone has something they all treat highly due to growing up with it during a time where one still had their pure innocence. There's a certain irony in such eye catching designs not being the main catch but that's exactly why it somehow works in a kids show that has much more to tell you. When you're young, you instead get to focus on the emotional things that matter more, which are the messages sent out about friendship, courage, fighting through hardships, grief and much more. There's a soulful spirit in this series that is hard to explain which has inspired many to show what truly matters despite everything.
