Cute lion.

I hear ya. I filter any manga with the word isekai/tensei in its title, with the exception of isekai ojisan

agreed. isekai shit is awful

Kill yourself subhuman

We have Magus of the library, but kodansha has an extremely retarded official translation that does only 1 volume per year.

We need to get us some nips or chinks to help with translations to get up to date.

Dungeon meshi's anime will cause the popularity of the series to explode and usher in a new golden age of non-isekaishit fantasy anime/manga. That's my cope, anyways.

Sometimes isekai can be an amazing fantasy manga.

Isekai is old news, the new hotness are reincarnation revenge stories or jumping into a novel that the MC probably wrote and trying to follow the story, for some stupid fucking reason

I've never read Dungeon Meshi but I was under the impression it's still full of RPG mechanics and tropes. Is that not the case?

pretty much the same thing

WHat happened with the Rome Vs China fight?

I remember the Chinese becoming blob monsters and I stopped reading.

Nah, they're fucking WORSE than traditional isekai, because it gives the MC the plot armor that is omniscience until they conveniently don't remember

I literally cannot have enough isekais
They go straight to the point and distill the premise into its pure form

>Okay it's a new world what are the laws who is who and where is here and what is special about me
>DONE now let's actually get the story going

No, not at all

I dropped it around the time they discover the sister and I think they become wanted? But no, there's no video game mechanics. There's tropes in the form of what roles each character is like the halfing is a thief and the stereotypical thief abilities and the elf is a mage but it's not what I would call a tropeish story. There's no video game systems or anything like that - it's all grounded in fantasy and they even explain some RPG tropes, like mimics and how they breed/exist in dungeons, via lore appropriate ways.

I thought it used DnD stuff.

I mean technically time travel isn't isekai.

The characters don't have videogame stat screens and nobody is reincarnated. The warriors of the series don't have superhuman strength/speed or magical sword skills, only their weapons and their wits. The main character's greatest victory was earned by letting a dragon bite his legs off so that he could stab it in the throat while dangling from it's jaws. His second greatest victory was just sneaking up behind a sorcerer and putting the guy in a chokehold. Also, nobody thinks the MC is attractive and there aren't any women that are in love with him.
Denshi Meshi has lots of tolkien/D&D fantasy tropes but doesn't have any schlock isekai tropes. It's a proper fantasy story.

It sucks that the good fantasy manga out there aren't the sort of things I want either.
