Mayuri dies in a bunch of different ways as a consequence of Okabe's first d-mail (even though that d-mail has nothing to do with Mayuri herself) because that's just how the timeline works. It's the same with Ruka. In the timeline where his mother eats vegetables, he must be a woman. Even though common sense tells you both events aren't connected by cause and effect, they're indeed connected because that's how the timeline's attractor field works. The timeline dictates that if Ruka's mother eats vegetables, then her baby must be a girl. It's not a biology deal. It's a convergence deal.

Steinsfags are at least sane enough to admit that their favorite anime has many dumb elements and asspulls having nothing in common with science. However I can't get why anime enjoyers in general consider that show as "intelligent". It's slightly more complex than any KyoAnus shit (and their animes are not rally complex).

A timeline attractor field is not exclusively ruled by logic yeah. Events unrelated to one another can still condition each other. If the attractor field puts those two events together then one is a condition to the other no matter what unless you get out of the timline (jump from one string to the other, as Suzuha describes it). Again, this is the whole reason why Mayuri's death is set in stone and happens no matter how many times Okabe tries to avoid the direct cause of death.
This makes avoiding certain events harder to achieve. More than "convenient", I'd say it just made things harder for the characters. It didn't help them. It made predicting timelines more difficult.

It deals with time travel more intelligently than basically any other time travel story. Just the fact that they bothered to address that a time machine would make you end up in space if you move in time since the earth is moving easily puts it above the pack.
