Why do I read all of FKMT's mangas? I've gone past Kaiji and Kurosawa to delve into the depths of Gin to Kin and Buraiden Gai. I read through all of Zero despite the latter hundred and fifty chapters being an analysis of a Japanese poem that doesn't even come remotely fucking close to translating to English. The only reason I haven't made much progress in Ten and Akagi is because Mahjong is a terrifying beast that constantly makes you feel like you're on the cusp of understanding it until they put you in a 2-5-8 wait and you're confused again. What is it about this mangaka that makes me love his writing so much?

Ten is fantastic in spite of the mahjong, but it is a lot more technically difficult than Akagi for an outsider to get but is immensely satisfying if you do
I actually like it more than Akagi
