They should have committed to the yuri. I don't know if that would have made it more successful but it would have increased my own enjoyment of the show, and that's what matters.

>men can never use magic
It's not fair.

When did it say this?

They focused too little on the actual school and Akko's quest for the magical words often took her away from it while still not providing decent worldbuilding. Harry Potter took its sweet time to make people fall in love with the setting before going hard on the plot.

I have yet to watch something by Trigger that has solid writing. It’s a shame because I love basically everything else about their work.

The characters were just too boring. Akko is the usual retard with no twists on that retardation to make her interesting, her orbiters are ascended npcs with quirky designs and that's it, and Diana is barely more interesting than the usual "cold" rival character.

Didn't the girls get male love interests and BTFO yurifags? I seem to remember hearing that

Japs hate yuri and lesbians. Most anime creators have the same kind of grudge as this user here and they want to prove a point

It should have just been a SoL about witches
shoehorning in their awful writing was the problem
the movies are better in this respect

Exactly this. Every episode could've fleshed out more of the characters instead of just another world ending crisis woohoo, i guess its not a Trigger show without that

AKKO!

>Didn't the girls get male love interests
I remember akko did sort of I don't remember anything from the other girls

Mot a yuri fag I just think the guy they tried to ship skko with was fucking boring.

There was an initial plan to give Akko a muggle love interest named Andrew but the idea got dropped partway through and he remained in the friendzone. The director even said their relationship was ultimately akin to that of bros.

Akko is for Andrew only

Gonna need a source on that

Also Akko's VA was a yurifag and when asked about Andrew she said she saw him as just a friend for Akko and that if she needed a love interest, Diana or Ursula were already there. She wasn't a writer of course, but it was amusing.

Andrew was boring though

Sorry for the reddit link but I'm in a hurry, you can find other sources too: reddit.com/r/LittleWitchAcademia/comments/6jpa76/akko_and_andrew_short_interview/

How much did LWA even bait yuri? It seems to be mostly headcanon

Same-sex rivalries always attract shipping and there were some teasing pieces of official art.
