The real question is why was it a massive hit in America when it was a huge flop in Japan

Americans like loser underdog stories more

Americans love wallowing in misery

American culture is one of ugliness

(non-child) japs dont actually like any anime, they read books and comics and shit which did not flop. americans can't read

They don't watch anime to see reality. They like fiction and escape anime.

>americans are asleep
>everyone can't stop talking about americans
Just like on Any Forums!

neets sleep from 8am to 3pm

i personally never sleep

will this board ever admit NHK is mediocre?
is not bad but is not good either, also it aged like milk

the moral of this shitty story is
>everyone suffers, you're not special. you can't run from life forever and you WILL get a job or just die and no one gives a fuck; no one can save you, only share their pain
who is this for?

idk, only zoomers bother with
>moral of the story
>takeaway
>message
shit like you're in some kind of classroom about to fail a book report

the only reason Any Forums won't shut up about it is because loser dorks look at Satou, think
>he's literally me
and continue wallowing in their misery instead of making something of themselves, Japanese people prefer feel-good escapist fantasies

idk, this seems like a pretty realistic outlook

why would I watch some shit about some FREAK loser that has a terrible life, might as well look in the mirror I watch my cartoons for escapism period

Neets. It also fails to deliver the message hard because the average neet is like this

Jap otaku don't like looking at the mirror. Same reason why Watamote flopped despite being a hit in the west. BTW only a small percentage of Jap population actually watches anime. I meet dozens of Japs and surprisingly their hobbies are travel, fishing and hiking. Which means the entire anime industry is financed by a handful of otakus buying multiple sets of BD.

reading manga is far more common

it can't get any more kino than that

This, the novel sold well in Japan which is why it got an anime adaptation in the first place.
