The point is that the 13 lights being reabsorbed into Renji mean nothing, because they don't indicate a number of joints. There are clearly far more than 13 on that Ganz fight page, even though the joints themselves are drawn somewhat larger. And it's not clear how many are off the panel. "13" is meaningless. It's not even clear the bankai is smaller because we never get a good look at all of it again.

But none of this shit really matters, because even if it did come back smaller it doesn't line up with the fact that his entire bankai is busted by the time Byakuya is done with him. All of it was broken, not just a limited number of joints.
