Megalo Box 2

Nothing, it was worse than the first season.
It was a proper sequel.
this was a really good anime. I miss it.
Season 1 was a good sports anime. The sequel transcended sports.
One of the only times, I can remember the sequel being better in nearly every way from the original.
I started watching this because the art style makes me nostalgic. I wish the premise wasn't so stupid. It could've just been a decent boxing anime, instead of "duuude metal arms lmao".
It came into its own. The original Megalobox is fun as a “remix” of Ashita no Joe. It sampled various elements of its source material (similar to it’s hiphop soundtrack) and repurposed them to tell a straightforward story about climbing to the top. Nomad wasn’t as concerned with paying tribute to it’s source material anymore. You could almost argue this is part of the point, since the series is about the estranged relationships between these people who were once a family.
It’s kind of funny, because it’s the reverse of how the Ashita no Joe anime worked. The original series spends a lot of time away from the boxing matches, exploring who the characters are and their circumstances. Ashita no Joe 2, on the other hand, zeroes in on the boxing matches to the point where they cut out an entire arc of character building from the source material.
It was actually like AnJ. Season 1 was a bad sports anime with an excellent first and last episode. Nomad was about losing hope, redemption, revenge, forgiveness and finally being set free.
Being a good drama show for once. It feels like its hard to find one that phones it in in the execution department, but Nomad pulls through with it. My only pet peeve is that the audience should've been furious about that last fight and the media should've been shitting on them instead of the magical everyone is happy and satisfied.
>find one that phones it in
doesn't phone it in*
Haven't watched it yet, how does it compare to the original? And does it conclude the story or have they left some material for season 3?
If by original you mean AnJ it is much more like it in the general way it feels and with a few parallel plot points without specifically being a remake of AnJ. If you mean how is it compared to S1 it's about 100 times better.
>And does it conclude the story or have they left some material for season 3?
It concludes in a way that makes S3 very unlikely, but there are a few things they could do for a S3 if they really wanted to. I hope they don't because it ended very well.
KWAB (kek what a bum)
I liked it, it felt like a nuanced exploration of "manliness" without coming off as preachy or "'woke"
god what a pretentious post. kill yourself
Yeah I would've preferred if the audience had a bit of a tantrum, it would've been more realistic while driving point the home that those boxers are in that ring for themselves and nobody else
Them cheering a 1 round fight just comes off as the writer wanting to have the cake and eat it by cutting short the fight but pretending it was still a massive spectacle
Other than that though, superb anime
god what a good post, hope you have a nice life
Don't shit yourself, but I'm quoting the director pretty directly
Is the second season that good? I remember picking it up but dropping it halfway in, not sure why I dropped it since I really liked the first season.
fuck you
It contrasts well with season 1, which despite generally being rated worse felt like a really strong prelude to the story of Nomad
I think most people consider it much better than the first season
