He has some serious mental blockage preventing him from prioritizing certain people and he learns to get over it.
I don't believe that the target audience is dumb enough to self-insert as him. Like it's actually painful to see shirou make the worst decisions over and over again. The only time he could be relatable would be when he acts awkward around women
