The truth is it's impossible to properly adapt any video game into an anime, especially an RPG, because a lot of the appeal comes of those games comes from the sense of adventure and traveling the world in a seamless sequence of events which is just something you'll never get from an anime since they'd just be jumping between plot points.
Ironically the only anime adaptation that's actually come close to capturing the spirit of the video games it's based on is Pokemon, even if it's kinda shit still.
